Yöso by da44neel

made by da44neel for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

You're a small and cute ghost called Yöso. Starting with nothing, gather the power of the three elements given by the gods to defeat the evil elementals! Change your form to defeat your enemies: fire beats grass, grass beats water and water beats fire. Catch fireballs while you are in fire elemental form to raise your fire level! When you are a grass ghost - catch herbal attacks! Well, being a ghost of water - just catch water! But be careful, otherwise the consequences will be catastrophic ...

That was great fun and the audio and visuals are superb! Played through a few times and I'm not sure if there's an end. A total kills/rooms completed would've been nice so that I could compare my multiple attempts.

Great job to all involved! Very solid entry

This game has an excellent rhythm to it that makes me keep wanting to explore the next room and get better at switching between elements. Once I understood I had "health" but I could reabsorb elements, the game became much easier. I wish there had been some sort of final boss or ending, but I think it was just randomized rooms after a while. Let me know if I'm wrong.

@carraka thanks for playing! Actually there is a final room with just credits :)

Your art is so nice! And the element mechanic is really cool. Had a nice "Binding of Isaac" feel, which I am a huge fan of. Nice work!

I love the graphics and the music and the levels are well realized
But I find that there are many commands to play the keyboard
it's a shame that the pad does not work
I also have a bug to select exit
nice entry

I really like the interactions between elements. At first I didn't read that arrow keys allowed me to shoot, so I figured I needed to chose an element that would trick an enemy of the opposite one to shoot me, to crossfire another enemy...Until only one was left and then I read on the floor about the shooting mechanic.

A few rooms further I saw how multiple enemies of the same element could heal themselves, and thus heal my own said element.

It would have been neat to see more of that !

I enjoyed playing your game!

I have only very small criticism. I think you should give the elements in separate rooms with a single opposite element enemy in the room. I failed a few times in the early stages just because I was trying to figure out "Does the fire kill water or the water kill fire".
Also I felt like the difficulty ramps up too quickly but these are just minor things. I felt I should point them out because I liked your game a lot and I think it has a lot of potential.

Thank you for making this game! It was fun!

Really cool! I liked everything. Once I realized that you could absorb the elements, it became much easier and fun. Great job.

That's a fun game, I found using the numbers for elements a bit uncomfortable, but managed to get the hang of it.
the enemies cannot be hit when they stand inside a doorway as the bullets seem to despawn right in front of them, but it doesn't happen too frequently.

I like the healing and paper rock scissors mechanic, you can use different strategies with that, that's a really nice idea!
does the game ever end? I kept moving on from level to level, the game is hard at first until you realize all the mechanics and how to use them, which is a good thing.

The graphics are really nice and the audio fits right in. overall you did a very good job! I enjoyed playing this game.

Nice game, the game art is wonderful, the mechanism of the three properties restraining each other is very good, it's such an enjoyable experience to lead one enemy to kill another, good job!

This was a lot of fun! Solid graphics, good pace, and rich audio. The only issue I found was that the pause menu doesn't seem to work, specifically the exit button didn't respond to anything I tried.

Wow this is quite impressive ^^ Very nice art and music, solid gameplay. You just seem to enjoy making players suffer :'D It's SUPER HARD!! I think my best was like 6 rooms max, everything happens super quickly, and as if it wasn't hard already to use the three elements, there are obstacles everywhere to block your attack (and hide from the enemies' as well, that's true) and swamps everywhere where you die in like 3s ^^'

Anyway, super good work :)

Nice art and fun game! The only thing that bugged me was the randomized nature of the angle of your attacks. It made aiming at enemies very frustrating. It also made shooting while hugging the bottom wall very ineffective since a lot of the shots would collide with the wall.

This was a really qute and fun game for sure, I love the pixel graphics, and appreciate the work put into that part, the evolution of the different enemies are awesome and the whole game felt really complete. I enjoyed the mechanics of it as well and after a while I understood that at the start of a level it's best to let the enemies dish it out on each other to soften the level up some, and then come in with surgical strikes when there's less of them available.
A all around great experience! Cheers!
