Portal Pete: The night-time Sheep by Kazatan
:sheep: About
Portal Pete: The night-time Sheep is stuck in a physics puzzling portalling loop. Baaa.
Try to work out the sometimes abstract ways you can advance through the portal puzzles - which portal things go through matters! Watch *the moon :first_quarter_moon: * to know when you've advanced!
See the tips and video walkthrough below. I hope you enjoy it!
:sheep: Play
HTML5 (web) :video_game: or download for Windows.

:sheep: Tips
- If you feel like you're stuck in a loop try doing something different - there is a thankyou screen when you've reached the end.
- Boxes can be tipped by jumping on them and walking to an edge
- Which portal (left or right) matters throughout the game

:sheep: Dev Notes
There were some things that got cut to meet the deadline: - Sheep emotions... yes, really. I wanted to use them to convey if you're doing things right. - More levels. There are 6 but I had ideas for more. - Physics puzzles with rotatey things bouncy things and holes. - Levels with more than 2 portals :open_mouth: - A proper ending  - More animated touches (sheep looking around, portal effects, moon face, etc)
Thanks to everyone who makes LD so awesome 👏

@lestat Thanks! It would have been great to have had another few hours to polish an ending and more levels!
@nikos @ondy1985 Glad you enjoyed it. I've added a video walkthrough to this game page above if you want to see how to complete each level. Thanks for playing!
@avatargreggles Can you try again or try this link to the hosted web version: https://kazatangames.co.uk/projects/ld47/ I can still see it working for me - hopefully you can see it.
@adil thanks for the feedback 👍
The overal graphical style was fantastic.
The mechanics I really wanted to like but I found myself a bit frustrated that it was a puzzle for which I wasn't always sure what the objective was.
really nice game :D
@thewinrawr Yep, this is good feedback. It could do with a day's polish and a day's extra content! Funny you should mention the switch because most of the time when making games I have a rule of "make it difficult _after_ you've made it easy" but I don't think I applied that thought to the switch mechanic - probably in too much of a rush!
@11thpenguin I think there is definitely room to adjust the physics and the 'feel' of the movement. I think I settled on how it is because you can spend so long on that you run out of time for everything else! I'm a big fan of 2D/3D crossover and i'm happy with the way this one came out. Thanks 👍
@candlesan Thanks  I can understand that frustration. There were a few things I wanted to do to improve it but time was the enemy. More levels - where the 'rules' would become more obvious over time. And more feedback: to help players understand if what they're doing is helping progress the level.
@unluckyninja Yes, the last puzzle is a bit tricky. You can see when I recorded my video walkthrough above it actually took me several goes to get it right when I was trying to play it as if it was new to me! I take your point on the jump height - especially over the ball.
@thecreator Thanks! I too love a physics sandbox! I really wanted the end game screen to be one (with the 4 boxes) but I had to make more puzzle levels in the last bit of time on Sunday!
The game core itself has potential. I believe you can create interesting levels with this technique. I had little trouble getting the puzzle solved with the cube and ball. But it can be compensated with the right hints.
Here are some suggestions if you want to continue to develop this game:
* A UFO topic would be epic. You could let the UFO create the portals or the sheep would get dragged up by UFO at the end
* Maybe changing the color of the portals would help the gamers, knowing where to put which object
I believe this would also be suitable as a mobile title. Congratulation :)
I wanted to create more levels which would showcase the rules and I wanted an ending scene where you'd found a flock of sheep but time ran out. I actually hadn't put much thought into story - which isn't surprising given the short time to develop - but an extra-terrestrial plot would be good, yes!
If I return to this game to continue it I will definitely make some changes to help the gamers understand the puzzles 👍
