Welcome to Word Wielder!

Cover.png

In this game, you are a mighty adventurer exploring the depths of a forgotten dungeon. Your only weapon? The word "Nothing". Doing "Nothing" by itself, does exactly that: nothing. However, you build your actions using the letters that form the word "Nothing", and gain aditional letters in some actions.

This game is actually pretty fun and the funny line when you spell out the hidden word was a really nice slice of humor. I love the idea of this and it would be interesting to see how that concept could be extended to further words perhaps? I'm not sure. But it is definitely an innovative idea. At the beginning of the game, it felt like it was hard for me to grasp a strategy on how to stay alive. But on my second retry I started to realize an efficient order for the abilities and was coasting quite well, and this made the game even more fun for me. Great submission :)

I actually enjoyed this game. It's very relaxing. Would be nice to see graphics of the enemies. But it's simple and not stressful. Interesting RPG

@rollersteaam @akusan thanks for the feedback! I originally intended to have something more than just a funny line for the special word, to make it something useful and extremely rare, but didn't find the time to implement it properly. Maybe if the game needs a balance/bugfix update, I might be able to implement it in a way that doesn't break the rules, but still brings more options to the table.

As for the graphics, I did think about implementing basic 8-bit like sprites for player and enemies, but it's just not my strength... So I just went with the "use your imagination" route

As I'm not an english native speaker, it seems a bit confusing to me. But I think that it could be fine for english speaker! XD

Love the idea and the humor of the game , but I do think it has suffered by the limitation of the theme. I would have love to see what could happen with the same idea extended beyond the word "Nothing".

Great work.

I really liked this interpretation of the theme, gameplay was interesting, and I can certainly see this being expanded upon. Only complaint I would have is that it felt very RNG based, but maybe I just didn't understand how the words / letters were given each turn exactly.

Well, quite a game. I've seen other word games, but this one is unique!

Over time it got repetitive though. And while enemies punches got stronger, the healing and mending did not compensate well. However, many times I'd make sure I have 2 health before I kill them, although sometimes I still did not get any experience. And even when I'm dead (and it says Game Over) I am still able to play it
Neat entry. Art is well polished for the game's style, and idea is well made out....also...thong... :bikini:

@itsdanidre thanks for playing! Indeed, the enemies scaling was meant to give a "game over" state before it got too repetitive... Original plan was to have lootable words and other stuff, but ran out of time... I'm glad you liked it!

This is a very cool game, i had a good time trying to kill each of the creatures, i thrown the thong but it was a bad idea hehe . This is one of my favourite games of the ld, fantastic work on this :v:

PD: After game-over you still can beat the enemy lmao!

Hey this wasn't a bad idea at all! Really like it actually! I had a great time playing this game. I love the idea of the quit-button being a part of the game mechanics! Good job! I hope to see you next time!
