Nightfall Sigil Gray Shield by kuro

made by kuro for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Sadly, the game is unfinished. The gameplay is confusing, and I don't feel like working on it anymore, since it would take a lot of time to make it balanced, playable, and understandable.

A story of demons, and unexpected friendship.

A sidescrolling turn-based combat game, controlled by mouse. Right click to advance, left click to interact. Click the button to use the chosen ability. Not every ability can be used on all enemies/allies, it always depends on the target position in the party. Hover over all characters to see what can which character do.

The little demon doesn't have any combat abilities, but has to survive each battle. Keep it alive, as they say.

The HTML5 version is here for your convenience, but if you have even a little bit of extra time, please download the executable win version. There's something wrong with some sprites in HTML5, and the downloadable version runs much smoother, and is way prettier.

The game isn't finished. I recommend playing the story mode, which gives your wizard a +30 damage bonus to his lightning ability, and sets his initiative stat to 10 (makes him always go first). I didn't have time to test the normal game mode, so if you decide you want to play the normal mode, please let me know how it went/if it's even finishable.

The game has an autosave feature, so you should be able to resume your progress after each campfire.

Great job with the mood, I found the gameplay a little hard to understand but I liked the effects and the details put into the stats and I liked the art in general too!

Not my type of game, but It's really good looking! nice drawings good dialoges, good backgorund and music. I reallly apreciated your sincere description. The game is smooth. Maybe a change inthe attack dynamic or a learning curve could make it really better. I did no take the time to learn how to play it correctly. Good game though.

Sadly I can't open the links. There's a certificate mismatch and my browser claims both links lead to sneaky, hostile sites. :/

Maybe host it somewhere like itch.io?

Same problem here, SSL warning, then 404 if I accept.

Yeap, getting a 404 as well. Hopefully the author can fix it before rating ends.

Thank you all for trying. I'm sorry, but one of the old pages on my VPS got hacked, and I had to bring the whole VPS down. The SSL warning was a result of providing the wrong certificate, the domain still displays one of the other pages that run on the server, and that's what causes the warning. I really didn't have time to sort this out properly, unfortunately, but I am very grateful for your willingness to try my game out.

See you next LD, and good luck until then .)
