Keep Floating by JoaoG
Keep it alive, literally.

Float as far as you can.
I hope you enjoy and have fun.
Stay safe, stay home and Keep Floating :balloon:
How to Play:
Press the keys A and D or press the Arrows – or Swipe left and right – to change the direction and try not to pop the balloon.
If you pop the balloon, collect lives to float back.
Como jogar:
Pressione as teclas A e D ou pressione as Setas - ou Deslize para a esquerda e direita - para mudar a direção e tente não estourar o balão.
Se você estourar o balão, colete vidas para voltar a flutuar.
~~Ironically, this was the JAM that I had the least time to dedicate to the game, even though I was in quarantine.~~
Please feel welcome to post your score in the comments and rate the game too.
Thanks for your support.

The window size wouldn't scale up at all, and in general the game looks like it was designed for mobile.
The color scheme was a bit erratic, but everything fit together at least slightly well.
The Up reference in the background gave me a little chuckle. I don't know of any other houses that were flown via balloons.
I read in your bio that you didn't have very much time on top of the minimal time in Ludum Dare already. Well done completing your project before time ran out!

The center number (in yellow) counts the distance covered – it is also your score. And the choice of number 27 in the second stage of the game (when you are controlling the paper boat and collecting lives) as a goal for you, for *It*, to float again was based on the story of Pennywise, who wakes up in cycles of 27 to 30 years, and it was how long it took him to return between the two most recent films.
Very fancy and addictive !
I thought the 'pick up lives' part of the game felt a bit out of place. I was a good way to add a change in pace and give players a break but it felt too disruptive to the score chasing nature of the game. I think a small improvement would be instead of having the 'pick up' game every time you lose a life, have it at some interval, so maybe every 100 or 200 points. And instead of picking up lives, make it a bonus round, where picking up boats will add to your score. That way you mix things up but still have both parts of the game cohesive and build towards the score chasing experience of the game.
Again, well done on bringing it all together for the jam, the art, mechanics, sound, and even story/references. Good job!
The game is a simple sort of thing, but the music was good (though I was confused how it fit with the game)
I think I want to parrot the above and say that the "float" section would be better if treated as a bonus section to get extra lives than as a penalty.
Otherwise, the concept is alright, and I love the play on the theme.
Hit a score of 234, which isn't high, but I think its enough to get a sense of the game. I liked the "Up" reference in the background.
Hit Score of 350
Nice little IT-themed endless runner. The mechanic is simple, which is pretty effective for this sorta games though. Good job, was fun!
Bom trabalho.
@ceriseghost Now it’s official, you are the owner of the **record** for scoring in this *Ludum Dare*. Thank you, I am very proud of your work. :trophy:
@iak Thank you for playing my simple game in your stream! That was really cool. :movie_camera:
:clapper:– ```Some stuffs about the game that I feel I need say because somehow I think I owe it to you,``` when the balloon pops, ***Pennywise*** falls and becomes a symbolic paper boat – *according to the story, **It** can also change shape, taking on many different appearances.* – where it needs to collect 27 – *because in the story of **It** it reappears in cycles every 27 years.* – lives that are represented by the boy in the yellow jacket – *Pennywise's first victim in the film is the little boy Georgie, who disappeared wearing a yellow jacket while playing alone in the street during the rain with his paper boat.* :balloon:
:gear:– It may seem strange but it was purposely designed to destabilize the player by reversing the mechanics (*deflecting* – *collecting*) while providing a short rest and a break in the game.
– @zchen I think you were the one who understood it best, even though I didn’t make it so clear. 🤷♂️ I'm sorry for this. But thanks for all your suggestions for improvement. I will take that into account next time. :balloon:
>:joystick: To everyone who left their comments here, know that I played your games too, and I rated them even if I didn’t leave my feedback. ~~```Thanks for floating!```~~ :balloon:
:exclamation: For now I do not intend to continue with this project, but you can be sure that if it happens in the future, I will come back here to review all created confusion, all the feedbacks, about all the questions you’ve had. **Thanks for the learning and experience of another _Game Jam_. See you at the next _Ludum Dare_! :v: **
