Crypt of Capitalism by Lychee

[raw]
made by Lychee for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

A short game about getting stuck in a loop of purchasing microtransactions. I (@Lychee) did the code, @AFestiveDolphin did art, and @Guff did music!

Due to code issues and too big of an initial scope the levels aren't really in the state I wanted, but at least it's working (mostly)! I feel like I have a lot to improve on still, but I learned a lot and had fun. :)

Well done, I really enjoyed that. Even with the microtransactions, it was a bit challenging for me. Perhaps starting off a bit easier and building up the difficulty. It could be that I'm just a terrible gamer, though.

I like the concept of the stuck in the microtransaction loop a lot! The game definitely felt like it needed a bit more work, the platforming was quite floaty, and I would've liked to see the core concept developed a bit more. It reminded me a bit of DLC Quest, which you can tell is a fair few years old from because it used DLC instead of microtransactions, but I haven't seen a more recent game that went with this concept. I'd be interested to see it developed further.

Nice game! I love the bunny and the graphics in general. The interpretation of the theme is amazing, I never would have come up with that. I think this game is supposed to be funny, but it's actually a dystopian society where rich corporations divide to profit and where poor innocent bunnies have to max out 3 credit cards in order to advance their life. JK Love the humor. (Tired of jumping so high? Revert it back[For a price...])

The best part about the game is the meta-humour and the controls of the game. The game is also challenging which made an amazing experience. Also the single pixel of the player taping his toes waiting was a nice touch

This game was a lot of fun! I wound up with an embarrassing amount of credit cards :( One note is that sometimes it was a little unclear whether I was jumping on top of the monsters or into the side of them, which definitely was reflective of the game but was frustrating :)

Music upgrade was clearly OP, loved it!

Humor and sprites were on point, and the platforming was solid enough to be a good foundation for the concept. Loved that I not only had to upgrade, but also downgrade my jump back and forth. Tried to cheat that system a few times but I definitely lost more than I gained. A highlight moment was the first time I ran out of currency and couldn't buy the jump I needed, and wasn't sure where it would go from there...

Short, but the right length to not overstay its welcome. All around nice entry!

Awesome game! I loved the art, sfx, and the level design. The transaction mechanic is a clever idea! The movement felt good and dying didn't feel frustrating since all you do is collect debt as a result. I like that it is more about trying to avoid credit/loans as a sort of score to how well you do. The length of game / difficulty was perfect. Solid entry!

Great use of the main mechanic! I like that currency is also health, great implementation of the pay-to-win feel (and lives are unlimited so I could actually finish the game)
And wait for 14 days? Wow, that's a lot ;D

Very nice art style and cool character( I notice his/her toe)
I love the smooth animation. For me, it's a little hard to pass the monsters.
But I still spend good time on this game. I like the music and cute sound effect.

I wish there was a larger penalty to running out of gooblets! The game was a lot of fun, and the 2nd music was a real jam! Nice work all around!

Really cool game. I really liked the audio and the mechanic which enables you to degrade/upgrade your jump! Would be cool to have other power ups in this as well, neat concept.

Nice idea and a pretty good execution! Good job on completing the game, I had a giggle from the idea of using microtransactions on a simple mario clone - kudos on that! Good luck on the rest of your gamedev journey!

I like the mechanic of upgrading and degrading your abilities for progress!
Also, I'm glad the game doesn't end when you run out of Gooblets

Ok the music fit nicely with the feel of the game, the mechanic of having to buy and sell your abilities was cool and I would like to see more of that. The controls where nice and responsive. Cool game I enjoyed it.

Good game! I like a lot the idea-topic loop of earn money and spend in the abilities (like most of the mobile games xD). Maybe use an alternative controls in the keyboard (like shift key for example) to use the shop could be great for the players and not changing every time by mouse or keyboard. The animations, audio, etc. are amazing! Congrats! Great game!

Cool game, funny idea. I'd switch the intro screen music with in-game music, since the intro screen music is better, so the player could listen to it more.

Love it! Especially the twist of buying a new soundtrack. :) Overall probably the best entry I've played so far.
