background music is nice
would be nice to have some sort of indicator that a character is selected
would also be nice if you only have 1 character, for it to be auto selected
I was able to walk into the 'vault'
movement speeds of units was almost painfully slow
I think there is some great potential here for some turn based survival strategy (just need to get the game play moving a bit faster)
Hope next time it will be more neat, great job and good luck
The interface is a bit lacking. It's not easy to tell what you can interact with or which character you have selected. Some simple highlighting of the active character, or more pronounced mouse-over effects for items/monsters would help a lot. The more interactive, the better!
Animations—even some very simple ones—would also help. It's not always clear what's happening when nothing is moving.
The music, however, is pretty good. It suits the atmosphere of the game really well, and the ambient background effects are a nice extra touch.
The characters could probably move a bit faster and I thought it was a bit redundant that you had to select the character in the start of every turn when you had just one. Also some kind of highlight when targeting the enemies and others would have been nice.
Overall, pretty great game!
did not realize the green ones were enemies in the first round ... and it gets a bit unresponsive in the web version, i like the idea though. There could be stamina, health conditions such as diseases like a jungle based survival strategy game ... i cant get tired of turn based games
- Camera position is bad, it tends to make you pixel hunt for items or even attacks
- Pathfinding doesn't seem correct (I was able to go 'under' the monster without attacking him)
- Couldn't go into exit unless I moved closer (related to pathfinding)
- Attacking monster repeatedly, while possible often ended up in additional moves
- I couldn't see health of monsters (could help a bit when thinking about what tactics to do in fight)
Overall I liked the entry, it looked good, was somehow polished and was fun to play.
Keep up the good work!
Graphics are great, I just missed some animations. But overall is a good job for a Compo game
I do, however, find the pace quite sluggish and its very difficult to discern whom or what I'm clicking on or selected half of the time.
I think that you nailed the art design for this game. The levels, characters, and enemies are great. The gameplay itself, while simple, is well done and I did not encounter any major issues, other then what I mentioned above. I thought that the background music was great for the environment that you were setting, and I liked the other sound effects. Overall a great game, that with some polish I could see being an amazing experience.
