Planet Rebuilder by Santiago Merino

[raw]
made by Santiago Merino for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Oh no! A mysterious creature has stolen most landmasses on Earth, and you're the only one around to rebuild it! You have some images of what things used to look like, but they aren't exactly great... Oh well! Time to improvise! X4cuKe.png

Changelog:

v1.0.1 - Removed the ability to select item values that don't exist. - Instead of pressing any key to start, you now have to press the Space key. This fixes a pretty obscure bug. - Added a link to the Ludum Dare page in the game.

I like the idea of re-building levels based on blurry photographs. Character movement is smooth and the birds chirping is a nice touch! What I wasn't clear on was how the game ranks your recreations.

The concept was nice a game when you need to rebuild a level instead of playing it is a great idea and it's fit the theme pretty well

I really liked the initial scene montage. Platform + level editor it's a great idea!

I actually like the idea of"build the level yourself and go through it". But maybe more limits could be given. For every level I just put a flag besides me and place the dangerous stuff away and easily reach the flag😁

@geoff-nagy Thanks for the feedback! The game actually calculates how close the recreation is to the original, but I didn’t manage to add a proper score system for the player in time. Something to fix in the post-jam version!

@decappoolla Thank you for the feedback as well! That’s a valid point. I’m currently prototyping a version of the game where the drones actually destroy blocks which, in addition to the score system mentioned above, should fix that!
