Battle for Kyrrdon by oillen

[raw]
made by oillen for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

This small RTS was made during Ludum Dare 46 Jam.

Victory & Defeat conditions: If a faction has no HQs anymore, it is defeated - the other faction acclaimed victory

There is no ai, but you can play your enemy to a certain degree e.g. producing units & command units

CONTROLS: esc - quit game f2 - restart game f4 - toggle fullscreen/windowed

Scrolling: use arrow keys for scrolling, or scroll by putting your cursor at the border of the screen. Unit Selection: Select units with the selectionbox, press LMB and drag your cursor. No selection by simply clicking a unit or building Minimap: shows the location of units, click on it to jump to the corresponding place in the battlefield. Beware, it is glitchy

Thank you for playing/testing this glitchbuggy mess!!!

Despite the bugs, I still had a lot of fun playing this lol. Just made a massive army and blew everyone up. It was kind of weird that I could control the enemy though lol. Definitely would've loved to see some AI attacks or something. Good job!

Sometimes the buildings were not really produced, despite the message saying so and sometimes the counter on the placements buttons was not updated when a new building got produced. Even a very simple AI would make this a pretty fun game IMO.

I like the tower game concept. The controls took a minute to get used to and it would help if the buttons reminded you what each building and unit was when you hovered over it. The audio can get deafeningly loud when you build up a massive army and everything is shooting. Overall, the graphics were nice, and the game was well executed for a three day jam. I really think you should continue to work on this because I had a fun time playing. Great entry!

@kruemelkeksfan you are right, I encountered this annoying cockrach of a bug :bug: after the jam ended, when @inflamedgums showed me it in a discord stream ... the buildings did nothing wrong  - it is all the GUI's fault :rage: the counter of the placements button read the resourceslist's entry (I used it to store constructed buildings) - however the construction buttons "consumed" these resources without giving you something ... :joy: it's from changing from an ad-hoc style (gui at the corresponding building like battle for middle earth) to the side GuI style like in C&C (or in this case Thandor, which was the actuall influnce on this title)

Probably a better RTS than [War Selection](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1022450/War_Selection/) lol

Good job, even if it is an incomplete prototype! :D

@kyle-bowman thank you for trying out my rts-prototype. Indeed some simple enemy spawns would give the game quite a bit more live. Maybe I'll manage to create an improved Post-Jam version till next week.

@lukas-shiley you might guessed it - i voted for tower offense :smile_cat: - btw. about towers did you encounter the bug, that when you place a tower near an enemy base it strangely belong to the enemies? - Surely it would be clearly better if the name of the units&buildings would be shown on the buttons either by a tooltip or directly labeled on the button.

Great game made in just a short time , I'm a huge fan of RTS games so I really liked this entry. If this was my project I'd be thinking about adding some AI for the enemies :)

The game is really amazing, i wish if the enemies would attack you sometimes, but it was still great fun, the most fun iv'e had was when is as figuring things out,i wish if the tanks had rotations and if the enemy tanks were a different shade of grey or a bit red, also i found a bug where sometimes when you swarm the enemy some of the tanks don't fire.(also this comment has 0 spelling mistakes :) )

Nice work aiming for a RTS! Not easy for a gamejam. Its clear you ran out of time for some cruical features (like enemy AI, collisions etc), but overall you got quite a bit done. I had a bug (I think) where a tower got blown up and then I couldnt build anymore. But in the end I got a ton of resources, made a huge army of tanks and watched amused as they tore through all the enemy bases which was pretty funny. So I did reach the victory screen doing that!
Also on my first playthough I actually killed myself by mistake - it turns out you can control the enemy tanks. So I thought they were all mine, drove a bunch of them around the place and they ended up getting in range of my actual base. Lots of little issues and incomplete things, but this could be a lot more fun with a bit more work. Good stuff overall!
