Had a few laps of confusion until I realised the chase car keeps largely to the middle, and the trick is to keep an eye on the map for the bends to minimise the distance between that and the player car. I think level 4 could possibly benefit from a different background - I found it a little disorientating, and didn't really give a good sense of acceleration for the car.
