Feed the Bear by Emperor Eagle
Description:
"Feed the Bear" is my entry for Ludum Dare 47. I didn't have much time to work on a game this time so I decided to do something simple. This game based on one of the first games I ever made when I was learning how to develop games in GameMaker. I twisted the game to meet the theme by making any missed collectables (honeypots) turn into hazards (beehives) that are stuck in a loop.

@teronk I'm glad you liked it (sorry for getting back to you so late)!
@stellarbeargames: I have no idea what that bug was sorry, it never appeared to me during testing. Thanks for playing!
@piscythe I am happy that tactic of surrendering parts of the screen came into play! I understand about the movement and will keep that in mind for future movement mechanics. Also, amazing highscore!
Art was simple but good. Sounds was okay. Music felt pleasant.
The bear movement felt a bit too slippery.
Good job.
@pedrocoden Thank you!
The Hitboxes feel sometimes a bit...weird.
At least Sometimes I didn't understand what hit me.
But overall I had really fun with this little time killer :)
Nicely done.
I will also have to mention a couple bugs I found (that others have already mentioned).
First run I tabbed out of the game and when I came back the bear, honey and beehives were all invisible.
Second one is like @tomhunt says, to do with honey turning into a beehive at the bottom of the screen so you get hit and lose a run if you miss a honeypot by a few frames.
Good entry though!
Too bad the honey and the beehives were always invisible to me... I couldn't get any to appear even once. This had happened to one of my previous games, and the reason ended up being a sprite that was too big for embedded laptop GPUs (like the one I'm using now), so maybe the resolution of your sprite is too big, making it not show up on low-end graphic cards.
Interesting fact: if you open the game and just stand still, you can simply wait to get as much honey as you want. I'm now at 203 and counting. So maybe you should think of a way to force players to move the bear.
@mrtroy @tex-killer Yes, I think you're right: you can stand still indefinitely. I would probably add a falling item that cannot be disarmed by collecting it to force players to move around more.
Thanks again everyone!
I see you're using Unity, are you sure you did set the honey and beehive SpriteRenderer "order in layer" higher than the background's value?

The game is nice and fun. As it was said before, it's frustrating to lose by missing honey by a frame, that changes in place to a behive.
The visuals and audio fit well together and helped creating a nice mood.
Good entry!
@melvinng Thank you!
