Stuck in The Loop by EOShadows
You are stuck in The Loop, a realm where you are trapped in a small room, sent to a nightmarish being, and back to the small room, over and over again. But there's a way to escape, and you must use your head to find out what that is.
CONTROLS:
Mouse to navigate menus.
WASD / Arrow Keys to move.
ENTER to interact and continue messages.
Z/X to make decisions.
You can leave the game while playing by pressing ESC.
I'll start you off with a HINT - this is a pressure plate:
Getting this pressed down is one of three tasks to the puzzle of breaking out of The Loop. ...I realized later that it might not be obvious what this object is.
EDIT: Added a version for Mac OS.

@thecreator Thanks! I actually wasn't too fond of how the music turned out, so it's nice to know it's not as bad as I thought! ^^
@Wakobu There are three steps - for one of them, keep an eye on the bullet-hell part. Anything different each time? Think about what you might have done in the regular room that might have caused it. For the other steps, I suggest thinking outside the box, maybe even try whatever strange thing that comes to mind - it might actually do something. Thanks for taking an interest! ^^
@rokevicius Thanks! ^^
Anyway, here's what I think :
The good :
I really like the mood and graphics. Programming was solid enough for me not to find any issues with the game mechanics.
The bad :
The text should really be skippable. I didn't like the music at all. To be honest, it was really grating on my nerves.
Overall still, it's a solid entry, perhaps some design flaw since I wasn't able to finish it, but still solid and enjoyable. Congratulations on making it to the LD47 !
@etrealjunior Thanks! And I played your game - it's really good! Great job!
@adil Thanks! And yeah, I was hoping it would kind of explain itself with the slight bit of hinting I gave. Basically you are trying to figure out how to get out of The Loop, and to do this you've got to basically use your head. It's kind of a puzzle game where you have to observe what you see, as well as try out your own inklings. If you've ever played the game Hello Neighbor, I kind of took inspiration from that.
@zaibakk Thanks! ^^ And yeah, I've gotten that before. I definitely agree I could made the text a bit faster. ^^;
@fluffy-kaeloky Thanks a lot for the feedback! And yeeaaah I wasn't fond of my music either, that area of game development has definitely never been my strong point ^^; I thought about leaving it out but I just felt like "what the heck." xD Also, yup, the box got you stuck. I should have allowed some way to pull it out of spots it gets stuck in. ^^;
I wasn't really able to finish the game since I wasn't sure what to do with the key from the bird. The demon door still didn't open and the other door just had a wall behind it. Every other piece of interactive qualities didn't progress anything. So I guess I have missed something. Since having to deal with the demon world after a couple of seconds, I wasn't so much motivated to find the solution, since it felt like my time was wasted. That's something you could work on!
Other than that, a really interesting entry. I hope to see more of those experimental type games :)
As for the game itself, I really liked the concept. It's like Freddy Krueger except you're in a locked room with 2 different dimensions. A very cool concept.
I know this is a pretty unrelated game but it kinda reminds me of Phoenix Wright where you have an investigation scene, and then a different minigame later on. In this case, instead of a court scene, you get a little bullet hell sequence.
A decent amount of work for a solo endeavor. I think there's a lot of good comments here on what you could do with some more dev time. Overall it has a nice, creepy vibe and a sense of despair as you're stuck in the loop.
```
chmod -R +x Mac\ Build\ 2.app
```
And it worked!
I liked the mood and graphics as everyone said; and as many have mentioned, I thought the text was too slow and would've liked an option to skip the typewriting effect and just see it all, especially feeling the time pressure. It's like.. Come on, lady! This is not the time! Anyways, I really love the contrast between the innocent and peaceful room and the dark "Loop". The aesthetic for both was great, especially when shifting between the two; the difference became stark.
Other than that I really enjoyed playing the game. Keep it up!
You are just there avoiding the threat ! I like this idea.
If you have some time test our game, it's also a game where you don't need to kill ^^
@eoshadows
I like your pixel art style do you use this technique for all your games ? Because it seems to be quiet mastered there !
But...Please stop using Esc to quit the game without menu !!! I just wanted to have a little reminder of the controls XD
At some point I was stuck as well.
Broke the window, got the key, the book and... oh wait I think I understand let me try again !
PS: just finished the game "THE END" super satisfying when you understand the mechanic between the real world and "The Upside Down".
Well done mate !
Did you actually get inspired by it ?
@peachtreeoath Thank you so much! And I actually didn't know that about the Phoenix Wright games ... I might have to check them out, it sounds a lot more interactive then I thought the series was.
@angela-he Thanks, and I'm glad you got it to work with Mac! I'm honestly rather curious what's going on to only work with that process...
@maukii Thanks! And damn, that's really weird with the text boxes getting stuck. I've got no idea what could be going on with that, but hopefully I can figure that out if I work on this more! ^^;
@rvenson @poodle-in-need Thanks very much!
@satolas Thank you so much! Funny thing is I didn't actually consider the "you don't kill anyone" idea. I was originally wanting the player to fight a bunch of enemies until mister demon guy appears and sends the player back to the room, but time constraints pressured me into downsizing to a bullet hell. But I'm glad you found the no-fight thing cool, and I definitely agree now, it feels a lot more neat than a fighting game. Also - my gosh, I'm very glad you were able to finish it! You're the first as far as I know! xD I'll definitely check out your game, it looks very good! And nope, I actually still need to watch that show xD
I have failed many times until I saw your hint about pressure plate!
Knowing it's a pressure plate really help me.
Great job for a Ludum Dare game!
(BTW, are your a native English speaker? I'm not good at English, but I can understand all the words you wrote in the game, that's a nice experience for I do not need a dictionary like when playing some other Ludum Dare games lol.
@cherry-princess Thanks!
