Red Book Games presents Overrun!

Players are given control of a spider mech in an earthy tube covered in hanging tree roots and littered with rocks and veins of ore, chasing down into the depths of the earth to eradicate swarms of alien bugs trying to reach the surface of the planet. The bugs rush towards the player, while firing corrosive bolts of plasma, who earns up points for each bug eliminated building a high score while preventing enemies reaching the surface and protecting their mech from enemy fire. When either the “hull integrity” is reduced to 0, causing the mech to explode, or enough aliens escape to the surface of the planet, the game ends.

This was really fun! And got quite hard haha :) It was a bit disorienting at first but it grew on me very quickly and I was really enjoying the circular movement by the end.

Here's my score:

The only thing I could think of was that I didn't realise you could move the mouse at first and just thought the view was misaligned!

Nice game! The theme was there nicely. Good thinking of a first person loop style. I enjoyed the dialogue when the game started and ended! The particle effects and such looked fun!

The game is not much, but feels great and has a nice arcade-gameloop. I would have preferred a crosshair and different projectiles tho. You get extra points for the audio!

Very fun game! Loved it.
The 3D art is great and the sound design is quite pleasing too.

Really good.

Nice game! I liked the gameplay a lot, and thought it was very fun. The graphics could use some improvements and the sound effects feel a little underwhelming.

This is SUPER IMPRESSIVE! I loved the Space Invaders in a tunnel idea, and thought the game was well-balanced. the diegetic control panel is a very nice touch, and although I wasn't entirely sure what the Overrun meter meant by the end of my playthrough, this was an awesome experience playing with a controller. Great job and good luck!

Really neat game! It's easy to learn, but has a very nice difficulty curve, I always felt like I was being challenged but I didn't feel like the game was being unfair.
I'd think about maybe having some indication as to where the player is aiming on the screen, but I found that spinning and firing worked fairly well.
the music and visuals are all really nice too, a good visual design and good music and sound effects.
a really solid entry! :D

Really well done! Love the interior cockpit view you can look around, was a really neat and immersive way to show all the stats without cluttering the UI :)

Pretty good !

Could use a bit more visibility on the enemy projectiles, and I found the enemies that just went straight forward a bit annoying, as it was impossible to shoot them without putting yourself in the line of fire, especially when 2 or more were aligned.

I chuckled at the voice lines :P, and the 3d art was not bad !

It feels like a good mix between space invaders and tempest 2000. I really enjoyed the music, it feels like old-school demoscene with a little of daft punk.

The game mechanics are very interesting. It is a good interpretation of the theme. I can imagine a full version of the game, on-rails using this mechanics, sort of merging with the style of Star Fox games. It would be very curious to see that.
I enjoyed your game, the graphics are good and sound too. Anyway the experience in general is pleasant. Congratulations.

It was fun. Excellent graphics and sound. But I think it doesn't really fit the theme.

Nice music, cool graphics and fun gameplay :D I found two downside: one is about the health and weapon charge it took me some time to realize it was there due to not being in my first line of sight and even after that, I felt having it on screen wasn't optimal as it hid the enemies at the top. Maybe putting on the glass (like at the top right and top left, around the spawn point) would make it more visible. Also, the red colour for the gun bonus made me think it was a malus at first so maybe a more "friendly" colour would be better. Overall it's pretty fun and I love the voice line at the end, congrats

@sergei201613 thanks for your comment, would love to hear more on how you think we could've fit the theme better?

Nice idea guys!! I had a lot of fun playing! I manages to arrive to level 8 and 227 kills, then I got smashed xD. I think it fits well the theme and it is fun to play, maybe you can add more enemies and weapons so it becomes less repetitive, but anyways it is very awesome and you have a nice base game to build on top of!! good job!

Fun game! Gets you playing to beat your score! And the overcharge feels great! The only thing to mention is that the voice when your life is low can't really be heard because the music and the shoots were louder.

Nice idea, it is a creative way of implementing stuck in a loop. You made an impressive game in 74h and with 4 devs. The game visual is grate, too. I think, you have a lot of experience in unity.

Good entry! A few notes:
- the shooting sound became a bit annoying after a while; maybe nudge the volume down a tiny bit
- the option to look around in the cockpit didn't seem to better anything and made keeping track of intergrity, weapon-status etc harder
- it's not very clear, how big the player is and how much you need to move out of the projectiles way. Adding audio or visual feedback to getting hit (like a screen shake, sparks, or a noise), would be helpful.
- hitting the enemies is not that easy either, as you need to shoot precisely while moving around is rather quick. A solution could be to shoot in the looking direction. Aiming with mouse would give the function to look around more purpose as well

Overall a decent game that I had fun playing.

A pretty fun game made in such a short timeframe! Aiming was a bit difficult at first, I'd often move too far to the left or right of an enemy and miss the first shot or two. But good job overall!
