A Game Devs Nightmare by DumbDumb

[raw]
made by DumbDumb for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

In this game , you must guide the computer block to the red cancel button in order to fix the infinite loop that was caused by a Game developer's procrastination . The program is instable and due to some errors the first four player inputs are looped forever .

Nice game concept :) Was fun playing it even if i did not manage to finish stage Nr. 3 - had a nice oldschool flavor.

Really clever! I enjoyed it a lot. The instructions on the game page itself were more confusing than I think the concept needed. The in-game instructions made sense though. I know that's not really a comment on the game itself. Other than that, I'd recommend adjusting the scale as the levels increase. The first few were relatively easy, but the one (I think level 3 or 4?) was incredibly tricky and I couldn't wrap my head around it. Might just be me though, my brain is a bit fried after this weekend.

This is such a great spin on the loop concept, and honestly just a really clever puzzle game in general!

@mellow-cello i absolutely agree that the instructions were confusing . and the difficulty curve is way too high even in my opinion . Ill definitely try to make the difficulty curve not soo steep in my future games . thanks for the feedback !

Hey, it looks like we had somehow similar ideas. I liked your version, quite different from what I did with similar mechanics (i.e. moves recording).

Really cool idea. I think it has great potential and is probably worth developing further after the jam. Give it a graphical facelift and I could see this gaining some traction in the mobile market.

I made it to level 6 before my inherent dumbness prevented me from progressing.

I did have some issues with sound (some sounds panned hard left and other sounds playing back a bit glitchy, but that could have been a WebGL issue).

Overall, Great work! Well done.

@human-writes-code thanks a lot dude ! I wont work further on this game immediately , but maybe after a few months when my art and game dev skills improve , ill work on the game from the ground up and hopefully make it better . Thanks for the positive review !

A great idea that relates to the theme! Fun and difficult to play, with nice music. Sometimes, though, you got stuck in walls (by the blocks), but overall an awesome game!

Nice concept! The game mechanic is not very clear at the start but when you get it, the game turns addictive.
Maybe other UI design had been better to teach the player.

Anyway, nice game!

Heya! Thanks for submitting your game to my stream at [twitch.tv/drjavasaurus](wwww.twitch.tv/drjavasaurus) ! I had a lot of fun playing your entry. I love this concept, surely there are some bugs to be solved but that's perfectly fine in the scope of a jam. A proper attempt to an interesting puzzle game with clear mechanics. I like it! I'm sorry I had to rush a bit through it while streaming, but I might just pick this one up again as it is a blast ! :) Game design wise, your tutorials and introductions to new mechanics are wonderful.

I made a similar game once, your's is much more intuitive. I liked it a lot, I could not figure out level 5. I like the music and the sound effects add a lot to the game. Graphics could be better in my opinion, some polishing could do wonders :-)

I had fun, good job sir!

@wouter52 , thanks for the overall positive review ! it should be obvious but my art is pretty terrible as i have never really made art in my life before . Thanks a lot for playing my game !

@javasaurus it was really fun seeing someone play my game as i have never had this experience before ! there were a lot of bugs that i was unaware of and i should definitely do a lot more playtesting . thanks for the review and thanks for playing it on stream !

@aaronacus thank you for reviewing the game ! a art refresh would definitely be awesome since the art for now looks more like placeholder art work. thanks for playing !

@barvaz i agree that the difficulty spike was a bit too much in my opinion and need to keep this in mind for my future games . Thank you once again !

@gao-ming thank you :)

Wow, that was a very good game!
The idea fits very well with the theme.
The graphic looks great, and the music is very nice.
The controls are very comfortable, and the puzzles are very clever.
I like that game a lot, I think I can spend a lot of time on that game.

Good luck!
