A SynthWave inspired turn-based heist escape!

GameBanner.png

You just stole the solar system's most valuable Specs - right from under the nose of the nefarious Cash Corp. You've begun the upload to your boss, but intergalactic transmissions can take a long time! Evade the Cash Corp goons while you broadcast your specs - but most importantly keep your transmission alive!

Tutorial

Play your cards to move your ship around the playing field. Your action always resolves first, followed by the enemies. Then you'll zoom forward! If you want to pass on an action, just click confirm without selecting a card.

Keep you broadcast going by gaining battery power in one of two ways:

Knock enemies into barriers, missiles, or asteroids to steal their juice, or you can burn a card and dismantle it for that sweet energy!

Both are critical for sending your boss the all important Specs you stole!

In most cases I'm not a fan of turn-based games but this one has it! I love the music, the art style is great and the gameplay itself with the cards and the enemies is wonderful!
The only downside I can think of is that the interpretation of the LD theme isn't that big of a deal.
Really great game you deserve more rates!

Very very nice little game you have here. I liked it's turn-based system. Got me 1 death to understand exactly how it worked, and it definitely was interesting to play.

Now, the aesthetics are awesome, I love that 80s neon style. And the subtle animations on the little cards added an extra pazazz that was fun to watch.

Very cool entry which I enjoyed playing. I'm surprised you guys don't have more ratings!

The intro sequence was fun! Took me a second to understand the card mechanic / dual spaceship movement. Would be neat if there was a way to replenish energy!

I generally don t like turn base games. But you did, I really liked this game. The mix between turn based and card game catch me. The art and sound are veeery good, and have a solid system. Congrats!

Cool to play, but encountered some bugs that was breaking my experience (some card wouldn't activate, some times enemy action resolve before mine but the game assume it was the opposite... weird x) )
Music doesn't really match the theme IMO.
The idea is quite cool though, liked it :)

Nice game but there a some bugs with the turns, I ended up with multiple player ships and I was really confused. The graphics and the way you show the world is really cool if you fix the bugs It could be really fun.

Great job on the game !
Really love the synthwave aesthetic, I'm sad that I couldn't put a note on the audio because it's really nice.

Slick art style! I think the cards were my favorite. Sounds like there might just be some bugs to work out, but I encountered some confusion when selecting choices. Would definitely enjoy seeing more of this. Nice jam!

I liked the idea and the mechanics of the game, but i believe some systems are still glitchy...

Fun idea, I liked the card-flipping-as-movement animation and the overall ~aesthetic~. I had a little trouble with the cards: as far as I could tell, Move Left, Move Right and HIT THE GAS both had me ending up two spaces ahead of where I started, although the between-turns transition might have been tricking me.

It's really cool that the game has an intro and the aesthetic of the cards flipping is cool. Some of the systems seemed bit glitchy to me. At one point I had two space ships appear and at another point my ship was surviving on zero health. I'm also not really sure the music fits the story of the game. The idea of movement happening through the cards flipping is great.

Great game. You had an excellent choice of music, and it was VERY original. Sometime the ship would appear in multiple locations (a bug), and i didn't really know what was going on. Other times, I really didn't know if I needed to react real-time as I thought the game was turn-based. Very great mood for a game - and once the bugs are fixed and a little feedback modified, I can see how the game would be very satisfying.

I had a rough start with the game, couldn't figure out what is happening at first but once I got that I really enjoyed playing it. Graphics style is very nice and music very pleasant. Especially I liked the introduction to the game. Very nice piece of game, indeed.

Nice game ! I sometimes did not understand why my ship was going where it was going, but I had fun playing it. :purple_heart: Love the gameplay idea too !

Really cool game but It has a ton of glitches. For example I was able to duplicate my ship so there were 2 ships on the screen, I was able to get the ??? cause of death, it's possible to spam a ton of cards at without waiting for another turn, the ship sometimes just exploded without any cause and finally when I've exited the full screen it showed some web browser error. Still pretty cool idea. I hope that my feedback will help improving the game

This is an excellent jam game. The gameplay is quite unique. It feels like there are actual choices that the player can make, and making the wrong choice kills you and making the right choice makes something blow up. I think the symbols could have been explained much better, but I figured them out eventually. The visual style is interesting, and does its job well. Overall, quite nice work here.

What can you not like about the vaporwave aesthetic? Combined with some interesting gameplay you managed to make a very cool game congrats! ^^

Interesting concept to a game. Had fun with it but it once I understood how the game works. There are a few bugs like seeing the missile indicator at the edge of the lanes, and one time there was two of me.

I loved playing this game and kept playing it to see if I could do better once I understood the controls better. Unfortunately, I couldn't consistently get higher scores due to the luck involved with finding gas cards or vertical movement cards. I think one way to easily fix this issue could be to just remove the left and right cards as I never found myself wanting them. Additionally I found it hard to remember the different turn phases and found myself mis-timing actions more than I want to admit. Finally, while I did enjoy the background music, I think it might have been an odd choice for this cyberpunk car getaway game, even if it is turn-based. Overall I still enjoyed playing this game and I liked the unique card background look to this tile-based game.

Cool to see the card-based look and presentation touches. Like the others, it took me a bit to figure out what was going on. Nice work!

Cool idea to set up a turn-based game like this! The UI and card effects look really nice too. I just wish there more card options, the player sees all the options within the first 20 seconds of playing. Having random fuel cards or health ones would probably add a good bit to the game. Good job overall though!
