What a horrible night... by chertkov

made by chertkov for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

I decided to make player keep their enemies alive. Weakened but alive enemy can be turned into an ally. As you will see, it is indeed very beneficial.

You play as a vampire, trying to endure human raid. Little do they know that sides will be switched soon...

Also, I should give you another head's up: Include your project files etc. on itch.io, they're missing right now but you'll need them if you don't want to be disqualified!

I liked the music and graphic style. After collision with enemies, the unit stops moving - it is better to remove it, in my opinion

Nice twist on a doom-like mechanic, getting close gives you hp, but also puts in danger. A vampire fits it very well.

A simple but really fun game! I like the visuals even though it does hurt my eyes after a few minutes. But its so fun to play it's hard to stop!

your game is fun,
i would've enjoyed it more if you gave the bullets some oomph.
A little bit of knockback for example.

You got a lovely, consistent art style here and good twist on the theme. I am missing a bit of feedback/guidance for when the different attacks actually connect (especially bite, since it appears to be crucial for survival).

All in all, a solid entry!

... To have a curse.

Good concept. Vampire with a tommy gun is a nice approach, and the style is on point.

As feedback, I'd tune the difficulty. The enemies catch you very quickly, but you can spawn bite and pretty much be safe healthwise. I'd lower the efficacy of the bite.

Nice music, and gameplay. Like that the special attack influences the level layout. Are there a win state or is it survive as long as possible? Good work. :D

I found the game quite difficult(maybe I'm missing something) but charming and the musics really catchy!

No polished gameplay, attacks are not always working.
Nice art, but my eyes are hurt a little from contrast.
Cool concept though, definitely deserves a good rate!

It has a nice mood created by the graphics and the sound, good work.

While the gameplay is easy to get and works well, i found a bit annoying that the player is paralized as soon as the enemies "snap" into it. However the special ability works to unbind them and run away, so it's ok i guess. It's also a bit hard to tell when you can bite them or not to turn into allies, maybe the health bards could last longer?

Anyway, the idea for the game is quite innovative and fits nicely in the jam theme.

Nice work putting it all together.

Visuals are neat, but I think there's too much red color and objects become a mess on a screen. Not very readable when playing and it's what you want your game to be readable when developing a dynamic shoot'em'up. Also, gameplay is not well balanced, because you actually can't properly bite people because you stuck in them and there are too many of them. Your minions die very fast and you can't last very long which is not particularly fun experience. However, concept is good and just needs balance, polishing, better and more UI elements and then I guess it's going to be a really nice fast paced game. Dodge people, bite them, make your army to fight another incoming army, sounds fun if made properly)

I really liked the visuals! It felt super stylistic and it gave the game a vampire feel. I thought it was very frustrating getting stuck on the enemies, though, so I'd suggest allowing the player to walk through them. Their path finding did seem a bit funky at some points too. My biggest complaint would be with the biting. It would be much better if there was some sort of indication when an enemy has a low enough health to bite. Breaking the walls up with the special ability was really fun though, and I overall enjoyed this :)

Graphics and music is perfect. Gameplay awesome. But I often gets stuck when all the people gang up on me. Very steep learning curve, I like it.

I love the idea of converting the enemies into allies, but I couldn't get it work consistently. I liked the artstyle, but it was a little too red. Very nice regardless. The health meters stood out a little.

Good concept, could use a little expanding. A tutorial or better indication as to when converting works would do wonders.

Very cool concept! Appreciate the consistent art style but the environment was pretty noisy, making it hard to focus on my objective. Abilities could use some cooldowns, I think I broke it by just spamming space bar until I had an obscene amount of minions. Music was a very nice touch - fit the aesthetic quite well.

Very cool concept. The art style and the sound are bloody stylish.

I'm not sure how the special attack works. It seems to shuffle everything, including characters and blocks around you?

The movement seems to have some problems. It oftem stucks me. Overall a very nice entry.

I like the gauntlet-like hoards of enemies, but it gets a little annoying when they'e all damage sponges. I also found myself confused. I was supposed to be able to turn enemies to my side with the bite, but I couldn't tell if it was working. I really liked the graphics and music, though, keep up the good work on that front.

This went through a few stages of processing for me. When it started I didn't realise the red bar was health, for some reason I assumed a flying carpet... and then when I started taking damage, the whole level swapped in my head from 2D side-on to 2D top down! :D I enjoyed it though and great visuals and audio.
