Alive, Alone by Eamon Kane

[raw]
made by Eamon Kane for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

We are two theatre makers who decided since we're shut in we should try to make a videogame. We heard this was a great community so we gave it a shot over three very sleepless days. Thankfully we have some actor friends to help us with voice acting and singing and a wonderful composer make music to accompany the voice. It's a nice point and click, exploring the relationship between the objects in a home. There is some fun writing, voice acting and original music. Enjoy Eamon & Kyle screenshot1.jpg

What a really interesting and unique game, it was fun to just replay and try see what would be said when I messed around with the different objects, also the voice actor for whoever is in the house sounds a loooot like Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn

My favorite part was flushing the toilet paper down the toilet. My second favorite part was cooking the scissors.

I just want to clarify that I unrar'ed your file and it's a windows executable, so you may want to update your entry to say that it is windows only.

I'll give it a try eventually, hopefully. I do have a desktop PC with windows but not now. anyways, I hope other people rate your game!

KeepEverythingAlive_Data folder needs to be renamed AliveAlone_Data to be able to play...

I'm not sure what th goal of the game was, but I definitely cooked all the items in the house!

Super fun experience. It was great seeing how everything reacted with one another, flushing everything down the toilet and hearing what that eldritch being said for every object was a personal highlight. I feel like I could get a lot of mileage out of a game like this, and the voice acting is wonderful of course.
My only critique would be a slight suggestion for a little more UI? I wanted to be able to reset items or other similar sorts of actions but couldn't find out how, maybe I missed it though there's a chance.
Awesome stuff, just a nice virtual experience!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

@ChristianAufiero, we definitely had a more varied approach planned with the different "stations" but had to make some last minute decisions about what to include. In a few days I'm hoping to have a version that implements everything that was a last minute cut, but we'll keep this one up as a good show of what happened in just the three days.

This is incredibly silly, and I kinda love it! The music and voice quips were great, and hearing the different lil interactions was absolutely worth playing a couple times for. Excellent work!

@ava-rae I'm glad you replayed it, I think a lot of the joy to be had is seeing the variety of responses one can get towards each item.

I very much enjoyed this experience. The music and the dialogue/voice acting were fantastic. It would have been nice if I could have reset the mess or had some end-game condition (at least I think I put everything somewhere). The stove was a bit loud and when I forgot to turn it off it was a bit odd that it was equally loud in the bathroom. Great game though! Cooking and toilet "cleaning" were my favorites.
