This Will Be My Cycle by don-tnowe

[raw]
made by don-tnowe for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Created by myself for Ludum Dare 47 in just under 72 hours!

This Will Be My Cycle is a platformer where you must navigate a loop you build yourself! As you loop and loop, harder obstacles will start to appear.

Some rooms are easier when placed on the side, or harder next to some other rooms. Choose your placement carefully!

Legends tell that the untouched reap great rewards. How many cycles can you go without taking damage?

POST-JAM FIX: Based on your feedback, I modified the game and uploaded the new version! (is this legal? i think not, so to make it fair the 72-hour version is still here.) - Character brakes easier and stops if they would hit a hazard; - Ledge grabs should be less annoying; - The highest score is now saved; - Ammo has a limit (no more hoarding!); - Added an indication when ammo is incremented (or full); - A bit more particles ;

  • [fix] Score now resets after restart;
  • [fix] Green shooting enemies now damage consistently;
  • [fix] Enemy icons flipping occasionally;
  • [fix] Enemies don't have different sizes (was intentional but ugly);

Very clever mechanic. The controls could be more responsive, but maybe this is intentional. The game is realy cool ! Nice job!

I love the idea that you choose where the obstacles go! I would like to be able to choose between different rooms, but what you accomplished in 72 hours is impressive!

I really like how you can choose where to add rooms to extend the loop

Pretty cool idea!! I think the fact you can choose where to place the extra parts of the level is really cool. Controls feel nice and the music/sound is lovely to listen to! I'd love to see where you'd go with this if you expanded it. Great job!!!

Really interesting game. I love the double jump animation and the mechanic to where you can place the rooms. I found that controlling my character was difficult and took a lot away from the experience; the controls are far too sensitive.

Hey this game is really pretty imo, I really struggled with playing it though! I'm not sure what I was doing wrong but I couldn't see any clear objective. Nice job on making a submission!

Awesome idea, lets the player try to adjust obstacles to their advantage while still having to overcome them. Art style was nice and gameplay was very smooth!

I like the interpretation of the theme! I had a bit of a hard time with the controls. I just like snappier player movement, but all in all a really good game!

Cool idea, I really enjoyed building my own level, and playing to beat my own record. Wish that the main character would be more responsive, as some jumps were realy hard. He is really "floaty" which isn't necessary a bad thing, but it makes certain moves really challenging.

Really cool idea, I think that if it were developed more with level types and some polishing on the controls I could see this being a full game, especially with a multiplayer option too! Good job!

The player controles are a little bit weird. Overall I really enjoyed the game and I think is really innovative. Great job!

Really liked the game. Only thing i would change is the PlayerController, maybe a little too much slippy. GG

There is something very satisfying about building your own level. It adds another layer of strategy on top of the platforming and provides replayability -- reminds me of *Ultimate Chicken Horse* in that sense. The melee attack also feels very nice to use. The controls are a little floaty for the precision required, though. Liked it overall!

Nice idea and play on the loop theme. Left and right controls felt a bit too fast, had a hard time to remain on the platforms, but had fun anyway. Well done!

I liked the idea a lot! It could be nice to also see some rooms you could benefit from (health rooms for instance). Well done within these 3 days!

Man those flies are evil! This is a really great implementation of the theme! Would be cool to have more room-related mechanics between levels, like change a room, randomize all rooms, invert rooms position ... Good job!
