Ihctogamat by OhFiddleDiddle

[raw]
made by OhFiddleDiddle for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Congratulations! You are one of the lucky few to gain access to the beta of Ihctogamat, a new virtual pet simulator!

For the best experience I recommend downloading the game and playing it in full screen. However beware, the Mac and Linux builds have not been tested at all.

I have chosen to opt-out of the Graphics category because all of my 3D assets were free assets from the Unity Store.

Made by Joshua Coombes-Hall. Big thanks to Kelton Hallo who did all my music (it's all original). He's an absolute god. If you ever need anything commisioned, shoot him an email at: keltonhallomusic@gmail.com

I like this game a lot, but it feels little bit strange computer not having keyboard and mouse. Also when the "Ihctogamat" escapes and plays music and then reopen Ihctogamat app, the music stops and plays the app theme music. Also the fact he was behind me scared me a little.
Nice job :D

What a fun little experience! I really liked the concept and the execution. Too bad I don't have a qr code scanner on me and wasn't able to check whatever the printer spat out. I played the game in browser and it worked just fine for me btw. Only complaint was that I had to restart the game once because I spent the cash on hats and the code and couldn't afford the final item that costed 600 coins. Still, a nice game nontheless.

@miklo you completeky missed the best part of the game then. Please play it again and get the 600 coin item it's a must, will make you reevaluate the game ;)

@ohfiddlediddle I can see how this can be a problem, maybe consider giving the players a few more coins so they can experiece the 600 coin upgrade, without waiting.

The QR code was cute :)

But I was promised hot singles in my area and couldn't find any :(

@bobost2 Yeah not adding a keyboard and mouse was a bit of an oversight, but I also didn't want the player thinking they had to interact with them in anyway. And yeah there are a couple of bugs I know about with the way I handlded the music, unfortunately didn't have time to sort them out.

@miklo Thank you so much. Yeah I did make the game so you it doesn't COMPLETELY hand you everything, which may have been an oversight considering how boring actually collecting coins is. (But Ausstein is right, you did miss the best bit haha).

@ausstein Thank you so much for enjoying it! I was very tempted to make those emails also open, decided I would do it if I had time at then end (which I didn't haha. I only managed to finish the actual story like, 5 hours before deadline).

That is a new theme game, brownie points for trying that. Audio is nice too matches with your theme. I think you can improve the game by making it a bit more fast paced it took some time for it to get started. Having to sit and watch it download and stuff. Anyway good try , best of luck.

I have just realised there is a major issue.
If the game was played in the web build, there is no video (the game has video in it).

I would love if you could play it again downloaded, if you didn't beforehand.
My apoligies for this, thank you.

Really nice experience, with lot's of cool ideas! (my faves were the ceo-vids :P)
Also, the game actually reminded me a little bit of Pony-Island (in case you heard of that one ^^)
Tbh, as soon as the install-error popped up (in-game), I sensed that something weird was going on and checked the room around me XD
I suppose the game goes rather well with early-stage quarantine-paranoia.

Haha the CEO videos are a nice little extra :D I was wondering why it said play video instead of start game :D

@inflamedgums thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the CEO videos I spent more time than I'd like to admit working out how to them (so I was devestated when I realised the web build didn't contain them).

@ausstein thanks for playing it again, that means a lot, I'm glad you liked them. :D

Super interesting game! It was certainly not what I was expecting! The mood you put together with the office was very fun, and to mess with that once the pet comes out was really fun to see. I also think the music really adds to the experience, so awesome job. I think if this was paired with gameplay with a bit more substance it could be a really awesome experience because the story of it is very intriguing. Awesome job!

You made me startle when the pet starts to laugh XD
Nice job on the mood and the music and sounds are great.
Thank you for this game !

Why can't I click the e-mail about hot singles in my area?

I like the added touch of the videos and you can tell the work you put in to it. It was silly in a fun way! Certainly one of the more unique games I've played this LDJam!

The pet was in the room at the end? I'm so glad I didn't turn around (Maybe it helped, that my headsets stereo doesn't work as expected). It's not really hard to scare me... However there are some nice details. For example the monitor illuminating the room a litle bit when the lights are off and the possibility to explore the lightsetting before the pet does use them. I like the game even though I probably wouldn't play it again... I don't want to have a pet behind my chair.

omg a totally unique one! i love when "real life" gets into ludum dare games and the voiceover of the critter and welcome video were a nice touch (as well as the QR code!). Magnificent, i'll remember this one for a long time after rating games end. good job!
