FireLight by SakuH

[raw]
made by SakuH for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Firelight is a single-player game where your goal is to survive until dawn. All you need to do to survive is to keep your campfire alive, however, this might be easier said than done. This was our first Gamejam, and we loved the experience! Hope you enjoy our game!

Features:

1) Random map generation.

2) Dynamic Lighting and shadows.

3) Pixel art

GamePlay:

Keep the fire alive for 3 min to win the game!

1) Chop trees and add logs to the fire to keep it alive! 2) You will freeze to death if you get cold enough, stay near fires to warm back up. 3) The wind will periodically change direction, rotate the wind cover to protect the fire and keep it alive longer. 4) Grab a torch from the fire, to find trees that are further away. Grabbing a torch reduces the fuel amount in the fire, so use torches sparingly. 5) Have Fun!

I like the game, harder than it looks! Like the other user said though, needs sound effects and music!

Overall very good! Your game implements a few different mechanics that play well together.

Good job! Maybe adding some button prompts would help out, and some clearer indications of what you are holding (e.g. torch and logs) and your holding limit.

Pretty game and really hard , but it really needed audio to give it the feel it needs !

Really like the art and the dynamic lighting, just could've used some sounds to top it off. Took me a bit to realize I actually had a torch going too, and the timer at the top will be obscured by trees

Hi! Funny that you and I got the same kind of ideas for the "Keep it Alive" theme! The graphics are neat, but the game lacks of sound and feedbacks. Indeed, I really didn't know if the keys I was pressing were actually doing anything, nor if I got wood on me when I chopped down the trees...
This is the kind of things that you'll learn by practising, and for a first experience, your game is far from being absolutly bad ;).
Keep it up!

Very good looking game, I love the light effects. It took me some time to see you were carrying the logs and you could only get two at a time. Other than that, good job!
