The game is very moody, the sound design is well done. It really makes you feel the apathy of an everyday life you don't like, one you feel you are stuck into.
I wanted to talk with her and quit the job everyday but I discovered I needed to go through the boring job if I wanted to survive long enough to talk with her, very nailed.
Also, the chat was interesting and touching, I played it again to go through all of it.
A bit sad it has not an ending of sort but she just repeat the last chat forever, I don't know if this is on purpose tho.
The interface tho could be improved by a lot, I was a bit confused by it at the beginning.
Also, I would have removed the use of mouse, and for the crowd part I would have made it so that I look at the center of the screen, while I just looked at the top right corner and the cool metro screen was totally ignored.
Overall a very personal game, and the cat part was very funny, very out of the loop as I think was supposed to be =)
Continuate così!
I want just to say: the game **has a good ending**, if you can find it!
***Can you break the loop?***
Great work guys, gave me a emily is away vibe.
Felt a lot of pressure to get those convos done asap, I ended up skipping as quick as I could while looking out for key words. I had quit the job and only had $62 bucks left hope the holiday we take will be fine with that ;P
Great work!
Great work overall! :)
Really liked the narrative with the lady from the subway and liked the little games for each part of my day.
Had a few challenges with the controls and getting the dialogue to progress (didn't realize I had to click on the PC box and use the keyboard too) and found the subway thing to get a bit tedious with the mouse (would have preferred the keyboard).
All in all, I really thought this was my kind of game and overall experience! Great work!
@davidwesst you can use arrow keys for the subway part! :) (sorry if it not explained well)
Game wise I have some feedbacks for you:
For the train scene, the main element (the one that the user will look at the most) is located on the top right of the screen. I expect the action to be easily readable, putting in the center (somehow) would improve the comprehension. Otherwise I really like the way you implemented QTEs.
For the second scene (working), since you need the keyboard it would be nice to have the input to be automatically focused.
For the third scene (room), I am not quite sure what the purpose of this scene is. From what I understand you simple pass a message, that you are too tired from your routine to do anything. Yet I feel like having to do the dishes or clean your room / appartement would enhance your point / message.
Overall you could add feedbacks when the user does a QTE right/wrong or when the user enters the correct/incorrect word at work. Even if it is just a sound I am not always sure if I did the task right :)
Really nice entry, I played for a while !
I think the idea of having a few simple minigames works very well for a jam game and it was fun. I really liked the music and mood of this, too. Good job!
I do have a couple of things that could be improved to make it more enjoyable though. On the metro, I found it quite irritating how far apart the arrows were and kept misclicking especially when I was trying to do it as quickly as I could against the clock. Maybe consider having the option to use arrow keys since it's not a skill based game so it doesn't really matter if it's a little too easy.
Personally, I found the falling in love over the internet in a week just a little too fast... Maybe if they'd just found the common want to run away they could have just done that as I feel the love part was unnecessary and took away from the reality of the storyline and the relatiablity of the game as a whole.
Overall, a really nice game with only a couple of things that pulled it down slightly for me. The moody atmosphere with the music, bland graphics on the metro and in the bedroom and the repetitveness really made for an incredible game! It was engaging, well polished and hit the theme in a beautifully original way. Well done!
