RADICAL RAILS

Screenshot5.png

Collect all the green lights while avoiding trams and cars!

Game was gonna involve railroad building but it wasn't very fun so pivoted to more of an action game. Fairly happy with how it turned out given I had to scrap a lot of the mechanics and code!

The web version runs smooth in Firefox for me but super slow in Chrome - this is likely just an issue with my install of Chrome I think, but if it is running slow for you then please try another browser or the desktop version.

I love the rendering with the isometric camera and the lights.
Everything plays well together and creates a nice mood.

Would be great if the text didn't show up if you press restart.

Great Job!

Really fun game, loved the artstyle. Thanks for giving option to use different controls, it's hard to get used to moving with wasd in isometric game. It's also great that you managed to add some story in a jam game. Great little game, could work well on mobile if you slow it down a bit and add more easy levels in the beginning.

The controls are kind of problematic imo. I was dying a lot because I pressed one way and didn't go the direction I hoped. I think this game could have benefitted from a "smarter" control scheme; if there are only 2 directions I can go, either key should move me down the corridor. Also, the text repeating each time I died was very annoying

Besides those, this is a good idea with a good enough execution, and it was reasonably fun to dodge those cars. the Blue cars that do manhattan pathfinding towards the player was a good idea, but I feel as thought they could have been introduced more slowly

I really like the art direction and mood of the game. The sound and graphics go really well together. I think the controls were a bit unpredictable sometimes (HTML5 Chrome). It's hard to know what direction you'll end up moving when you press a key and that takes me out of the experience a bit, and that makes the game feel a bit unfair when playing. But I wanted to continue immediately every time I died, so the game is definitely fun :)

Cool game. Only detail is that when he dies repeat many texts.
The faster you can start again the better. Good job

Great game! Loved the visuals :)

It also felt like a mix between Frogger and Pacman, so I got a nice retro mood :D

Well done!

Pretty cool concept and I like the graphical style & music. Pretty fun but the controls felt a little bit weird to get used to, I don't know why there needs to be a "smooth" option, seems like you as the developer should just be able to pick whatever feels best in that regard. I like the difficulty progression in the level design though there was a bit of a jump around level 3 or 4 - at times it wasn't clear whether I should consider the vehicles as cycles to time or AI that I need to outsmart. The later levels felt pretty crammed with cars, and I couldn't beat level 6 - felt like any natural path I would take would devolve into getting trapped. (Guess I never was any good at pac-man...) Still a cool experience overall, nice work.

Art style is great, and the game is pretty fun.

Just out of curiosity, I really want to know what does the "Smooth controls" option do, as both options feel the same to me.

Fun little game that would work well on mobile if you wanted to port it :D
The music was nice and the objectives and enemies were easy enough to figure out, pretty intuitive. The controls were a little rough but by the final level I was ZOOMIN!

Cool game. Really reminded me of 3D frogger games. I especially liked the graphics.

A really nice retro game with retro 3D graphics and sound effects. The controls were are a bit problematic (smooth or not) as it's hard to make a turn. Having the same text scroll again after failing a level is a bit annoying.

well executed, plays smoothly for me, even if it feels a bit wonky when i need to turn fast. also reminded me of playing Frogger:) looks very stylish, too

Nice job! Those yellow cars really got me! The AI coding was perfect. I hope you get to 20 ratings, you're almost there!

Finished the entire thing, great job! Nice scope management for a jam game I think and you did a good polish. The game itself was fun, it was satisfying to finally beat the last level (after many many tries haha). The audio level was way too low though, I'd recommend making it a quite a bit louder. Regardless, congrats on a solid entry!

Nice game! The graphics are really cool and consistent, nice work on those :)

The controls were a bit confusing and it took me a while to get the hang of them -- I think the "smooth" mode seemed to be inconsistent and I didn't really get how they were meant to work. Perhaps a bit of on-screen advice for the earlier worlds would have been helpful.
