Socks by rainbowism

keep it alive.png

A small sock loving skunk has wandered into your yard somehow! Keep watch over the poor thing, be sure to feed it. If you're low on supplies, there is a wonderful trove of treasures nearby that the skunk can traverse! Remember to keep it alive and you could have a pleasant new friend to play with!

This is a Tamagotchi-like (pet simulation) game. We chose something smaller scope so we'd actually finish something this time.

Changelog

  • Added a web build
  • Fixed several bugs where the wrong animation is being played.
  • Fixed not being able to restart the game.
  • Fixed certain items not being added to the inventory properly

I haven't seen too many takes on the theme in this direction, nice job!

Okay this is adorable!!! I love the concept, especially that he loves socks so much. So cute! x
The animations and character art are adorable, I love the eating animatio especially.
The day cycle is done really nicely, I think it could be improved apon with a small in game clock that showed time passing so in the beginning you had an idea of how long the game would last. As when I first started playing I thought it was a night only game. That is until of course I played for a while.

I particulalrly love how there's different socks with different meanings! I think this is a lovely customisable touch to the game that gives it replayability.

One thing I would improve- When Sock's looks through the dumpster it would be so cool to play a minigame where the outcome had something to do with how well you played. Just a thought.

Overall an enjoyable little game, I will be keeping the tab open on my browser to continue to care for Socks <3 x

Not a bad game. I liked the design and visual style. But I think it was possible to make the game more creative. But it's still a good job

Cute! Adding a few more destinations like the dumpster would have been appreciated, but still an enjoyable experience nonetheless. Graphics were top notch

The artwork in this game is adorable and really what makes it. I feel i felt a little lost while playing not sure if its the type of thing you keep in a window open for a while like a tamagotchi say a few hours and then you comeback and forth to it? wasnt quite understanding how it worked 1/) how long it takes to get health back. 2/ ) do i just feed it and dumpster dive so a little more instructions in that area would be nice. Overall real cute game, keep up the great work.

I like this a lot! The art direction is beautiful and super cute. The gameplay is a bit hard to judge as a result of the slow pacing, but what I saw was very well done! (Also I felt super bad when I came back to it some time later and found my skunk, uh, very much not alive...)

Just want to say that the UI is amazing - simple to understand at a glance, and the art-style is cute too. :)

I would have preferred it if the game moved at a faster pace, as there was a lot of waiting around for something to do (- but that may be just me liking fast-paced games). Also, if I could suggest there being something added to the looking for new supplies, I think it would be interesting (ie. something the user could do that would make it MORE LIKELY for you to encounter the raccoons, or MORE LIKELY to find a new item - maybe different socks can have different effects? Or looking through the dumpster at certain times at night would make you more likely to encounter raccoons?).

Overall, good job on creating a cute game!

"We chose something smaller scope so we’d actually finish something this time." And finish it you did. This is probably the most polished game I have seen so far. The art looks amazing! The only thing I'm missing is some music and sound effects (for example when the skunk is eating).

The art in this game is gorgeous, and it feels extremely polished with the UI effects. I like that the sock patterns don't move with the character, and change its ear colour, it's a small thing but it's a cool look! It really needs some sound so that I can leave it running in the background when the skunk goes to sleep, but know to go back when it wakes up - plus it would really just finish off an excellent game.

Beautifully illustrated! Feels like an old childhood point & click game I used to play.

Good decision to aim for something small and finish it. It feels very polished and well made. The only thing lacking is sound, I believe. I definitely think you should proceed adding more content :)

Well done!

What a cute game aaaa <3 As some other people mentioned there could be some music to make it more interesting but overall it's a polished and fun entry! Buy a coffee/tea for the art director from me ;)
