The shadow of the incoming foot was well done. Clean visuals - minimalism goes a long way! Nice work!

Got a score of 93, if you do an "8" path you can outrun as the foot as much as you can withouth worrying too much. Nice concep, GL on the jam!

This was a very simplistic game that brought the theme across very well. Great job!

the feet almost anticipate where you are going. The intensity was high and i really liked that. Nice work!

Twas interesting finding out the best route to take! Also, found a bug where after restarting, my ant would go to the right on its own. Otherwise, nice work!

I like how fast it is to restart, makes you want to keep going. Also great font choice!

It seems like it would be fun but everytime i click play it instantly kill the ant ;c

Its a very interesting concept but the problem is that if you find something that works you can just repeatedly use it, it then becomes boring but that the most successful way to play.

Thank you all! :)

@matt-burton I´ll take a look at that, it´s possible. Maybe your controller is just a litle bit tilted to the right by default. That happened to an old controller of mine aswell.

@bongo227 thanks. I was very deliberate with that

@kayleighmil123 that´s a good point, I could give the player a little bit more time before the first foot comes.

@relixes @uppitydonkey57 maybe. From my experience playing it there isn´t really a specific pattern you can walk in to make it much more likely to suceed. But I´ll try to tweak it even more!

A very simplistic game, but to the point for the theme. GJ!

A fun mini-game, would slot well into a Wario-Ware style metagame :).

fun concept! i had a little issue with the screen size tho, playing it on web made the background only appear in the upper left corner. Nice job!

@goblinkingmatt yes, that´s what I thought about as well :)

@stuembi you are right. You probably were zoomed in on itch.io, this causes the dimensions of the game to increase. I didn´t think it would do that, but rather just scale up.

This game gets straight to the point and pulls no punches! The quick restart time, short games, and rather brutal difficulty really fits well with your interpretation of the theme. Nicely done!

@supercool-guy which browser are you using and do you have any addons activated that could hinder loading?
Does it also not work after refreshing?

It works for me on Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

It doesn´t work on mobile though from what I heard.

So this was super frantic. I think it might have been better if the foot paused between stomps. Like if the shadow would hover toward you for a moment before stopping right before the foot comes down. As it stands I think it's a bit too frantic to be really fun. There is not moment for you to take a breath, and as far as I can tell it just goes on until you die.

My record is 59.

@disthron thanks for your honest feedback.

"I think it might have been better if the foot paused between stomps. Like if the shadow would hover toward you for a moment before stopping right before the foot comes down"
- I agree that the player should be able to see the shadow for a longer time before the foot comes down to have a better chance at reacting and evading it. I have tweaked this offline already a couple days ago and will update the version online at a later date, since I am not sure if it would be regarded cheating in the Compo.I tweaked other factors to not make it too easy.

"As it stands I think it’s a bit too frantic to be really fun. There is not moment for you to take a breath, and as far as I can tell it just goes on until you die"
- true. That is by design. It is not for everyone but it is supposed to be hectic and only last you for a couple minutes at most. The player would get bored if it would last longer since there isn´t more content to explore. I will consider builidng in a little break once the player hits a milestone like 100 points maybe  thanks for the suggestion!

The idea is that the player feels fired up to do just a little better each time he plays. That is why the respawn time is so quick. 59 is a perfectly valid record  The best I heard is 130 and my personal record is 113.

Very simplistic game, not that the gameplay is bad. I would have preferred more varied patterns of how the foot comes down though, differing pauses, different places, maybe multiple feet on screen at once, that sort of thing. I like the art, even though there isn't much of it.

I like the simplicity of this one. I almost feel bad for killing so many ants lately (not really :). A little more variety in the foot stomping would be interesting, maybe to give the player a false sense of security before getting squashed. :)

Nice entry!

@oldblack @frosty thanks for your helpful feedback! Yes I agree having more than one stomping pattern is more interesting. I actually changed it offline that the foot now also uses the trajectory of your movement to "predict" where you are going. I think I´m gonna implement more patterns like you suggest as well!

@oldblack different places is a great idea. I could implement more (moving) obstacles like mabe in the kids-room.

@frosty :) yeah, kinda but not really

Good simple concept. Good art and execution. I like the way that you polished all elements including a start/finish screen, the most important audio element, etc. Well done.

A super simple game idea, that is fun to play. For me the game was a bit too short, and for me it would have been more fun me if it started a bit easier and then got more and more difficult. But overall a good compo game.

This was fun to play! Nice simple idea and solid controls :)

It felt like it was kind of hard to predict where the feet were going to land, so every time I died it was hard for me to explain why I lost, was it just random bad luck or did I make a mistake? The game starts off quite intense, I think if it was a bit slower but then ramped up (maybe both the foot and ant speeds) that would help to give it more progression and challenge :)

The sounds were simple but effective. Stomp stomp stomp
