Into the loop by ChickenChaser

[raw]
made by ChickenChaser for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Instructions:

Survive as long as possible in an endless loop without touching the lava or getting hit by a meteor. Have fun.

Movement:

W and D, Arrow-Keys or J and L, Space to jump

My second time participating in a game jam.

There are Windows and Linux builds if the HTML 5 version doesn't work, although the Windows one isn't tested.

I'll also release the sourcecode for anyone who is interested.

Wicked game! I loved how you could see the looped code executing, so you could have time to react to the events before they occur. Great job!

I like the concept of the while loop arena but feel like there is no clear objective / the game is too easy

Clever concept. It could use some polish but I had a chuckle playing it. Love the meteor SFX.

Very interesting take, but I wish there was more to do/more challenge. Seeing the code execute was a really clever take!

Nice! I loved the connection between the level and the executed code; a very clever take on the theme. Also I think the idea to use the IDE as level design is cool. The controls felt a little clumsy though.

Interesting take on the theme. Pretty original to use the IDE.

Literally jumping around in the loop of code is a cool interpretation of the theme. Platforming-wise, I think the gravity for the player could be higher; often, I'd jump for a platform, but float way above it, and I wouldn't be able to see it on my way down (and sometimes it even disappeared by the time I came back down).

The ending screen is neat, but I suspect it's pretty hard for a non-programmer to parse it and find the buttons. I do like the dedication to the theme, though.

Nice work overall!

That’s definitely an interpretation of the theme! It seems simple, but it was a very smart idea, good work!

That was a very cute interpretation of the theme! I died trying to make sense of the code though!

The ending screen was a beautiful touch and I had a fun time looking through it :D
