Lignum Vitae by IDidGame

[raw]
made by IDidGame for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

get those damn evil orbs off your mountain
make sure they don't infect the holy tree at the summit

dashing and ground pounding creates a shockwave
use it to push the orbs away from your sacred tree

Move....WASD
Aim.....Mouse
Jump....Space
Dash....LMB
Pound...RMB

numbers at the top show active and defeated enemies
in case you get out of bounds press backspace to reset

i might have forgotten to disable a debug command so if the early waves are too slow for you try pressing x to immediately spawn an additional wave

DISCLAIMER: the webgl build was added after the fact and has not really been debugged

Movement and jumping feels good, I like how the map gets painted.
Seems a little slow paced, I never felt in danger after ~3 minutes most of the evil orbs didnt get close to my tree. and I couldn't figure out what the counters at the top were counting.

Can you make a webgl build?

Took a while to get used to the movement, but once I did jumping felt really satisfying. I liked the graphics, especially the colors (blue tree looks awesome!). The gameplay was a bit slow imo, but I didn't play it for very long so maybe later waves are more challenging. Overall - nice job!

First 3d game I've come across! I like the jump and smash attack - feels like thanos or something aha!

Cool concept with a nice aesthetic! It would be cool if there were more sound effects I think. Enjoyable overall though :)

Cool game! I like the looks of the blue tree, and the sound effects were satisfying. The jumping felt a bit off at first, although it felt smoother after you get used to it. The crosshair also sometimes disappeared. Overall, this was a very fun 3D game! Good job!

Could you please export it for the web? I would like to play it, but I don't have a Windows machine at hand right now. Maybe I'll test it later.

I love the 3d models. The graphic and sounds are very nice. But the controlls feel very weird

I love the concept! It's really fun! My only problem is the camera; it can get obstructed really easily by the hills on the mountain.

The low poly graphics are really nice! I also enjoyed the sound effects. They play an important role in letting the player know something wrong is going on. I think the controls were a bit off though. It was hard to control the player up the hills and there was no visual cue for when you could push the balls away. Nonetheless, great simple game!! Keep it up! You could definitely enhance it and release as a casual game!

Very nice, I liked that they tainted the nature :) Managed to defeat 18 of them. It would have been rewarding to have a sound when you hit them.

Nice game! It seemed to remind me of king of the mountain. Took me a little while to get the hang of dashing and ground pounding.

I do not really understand this game. The controls feels weird, and I was never able to do anything with the orbs.

I liked the graphics and how the enemy balls get pushed away by the attacks. Sometimes it is hard to see where the enemies are, I think some sort of overlay/HUD could help?

I like how powerful the main attack makes me feel lol. Good graphics too.

Nice game, I liked the jumping movement mechanic. I found I could survive by just jumping and slamming repeatedly right next to the tree, maybe a cooldown timer for the abilities would make it more challenging.
