The Loop Planet by TheCakeConsortium
Some guy crash lands on a weird planet...it's like a loop or something! Help the weird guy survive and explore a strange planet with a diverse environment, and some mysterious edifices...

Dev note: Ok, this is my first Ludum Dare Jam and it was a disaster, frankly, I think I picked the wrong idea right from the get-go and screwed myself over. This game idea is very UI-heavy and "content-dependent", and I have zero prepacked code, so all the code is written from scratch and very rushed.
Due to Compo rules, all assets must be made by me alone, so no stock-free music! ...I have NO idea how to make music, so I made a very stanky low droning music with no time at all, lol. The art is also...uhh.
But after programming so intensively the past 2 days, I think I gained a little more confidence in Object-Oriented principles, so there's that.
The game is submitted early, because I want to sleep and I have work tomorrow. :sleepy:

It was cool exploring the different environments and finding new locations. The link mechanic was really cool and I wish I could have explored it more. Unfortunately I couldn't work out how to get more links.
Oh also I really like your multi-biome ring planet idea, very cool. Nice work!
The game itself was lacking and a bit unclear. Maybe as you said the scope was a bit to big for 48 hours.
OVerall I really enjoyed. thank you for the game!
But
After reading you dev note, I want to congrat you ! For a first Ludum Dare is really really impressive ! Like really awesome ! It's always hard to start a game, and do everything by yourself, but how you did the music work so well (espacially when you start) and the visual are all good ! (like, there a lot of visual and you did a good one ! I love the visual style of the introduction and the overall style !
Well, i like the game (I didn't inish it, it was too long unfortunately)
THE GOOD:
- Graphics and audio is great!
- Great concept, with potential for making it a great game
- Tutorial in game!
THE BAD:
- The movement is slow, when not using the loop mechanic.
- I was still a bit confused at exactly what I had to do.
- It feels a bit too reliant on luck?
Otherwise, well done overall!
Great submission!
The tutorial is clear and precise. Time and again I'm convinced that every ludum dare entry should have one.
The gameplay is simple yet fun. Nice to check the narrative built terrain after terrain with the different paths.
Of course, the limited time available to build this game is visible on some areas (as even you said in death screen 😁). But overall, you managed to focus in delivering us with a complete game!
