Bunny's guardian angel by Vatigo

[raw]
made by Vatigo for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

gagif.gifThe bunny is searching for love, but he's always getting into trouble.

Use your ability to create bombs and boxes to keep bunny alive.

Use left click to select and create objects. Use Arrows/WASD or right click to move the camera. Good luck!

There are only 2 levels but second level is a lot more difficult since you only have 2 boxes and 2 bombs. Note: Bunny will turn around when he hits an obstacle. Hint for 2nd level: Bunny can walk over a bomb but you need to time it carefully.

Graphics are assets by Synty studios except the bunny which is by polyperfect. Audio and Music is Imphenzia & AlbertFernandez.

I like everything about this. The gameplay is super easy to pick up and fun, even when introducing something new with the traps you can learn pretty fast by just restarting and not punishing the player too much for failing. The music is really nice and the audio is cute. It could maybe use a way to give the player more time to prepare, such as a delay before the Bunny starts to run? That way the player has a bit more time to place the things they want to. Other than that, this is really well done!

Nice and simple idea with a very heartwarming ending. The physics are a bit janky at times though, especially the bombs feel very inconsistent in how they blow stuff away.

I had a lot of fun playing this! It was quite a struggle getting the physics to work as intended, and it was hard to judge what kind of gap the rabbit would be able to jump across or what the range of the bomb blast is, but it often led to some funny results. Also the pause/resume messes up the physics engine a bit so I was able to get the rabbit unstuck a couple of times by just pressing that :D
I like the solution with the bomb in the second level, as well as the end scene!

Interesting idea, it kind of goes from easy to extremely hard a little fast though. I would of liked to see some inbetween where you learn different uses for each thing you can drop and what works.

Hi! Thanks for rating my game, I was very curious about yours since you said they were similar.

This comes from the perspective of someone who doesn't play games which require skill - I was stuck so easily on the first point. I couldn't get my camera to advance up to that point and select the box fast enough to help the bunny, and then I was helplessly stuck. I feel like I would have retried more times if there was an easy way to have the level reset when you're stuck.

It would have helped me as well if the camera followed the bunny, or if it was a little slower. However as I said I don't play games which require skill, so those might actually be ok.

Great concept though, thanks for making this!

Adorable! Excellent choice on the art and music assets, and I have a soft spot for bunnies. I would have loved to see the carrots affect the bunny in some way, it would give me a stronger reason to redirect the bun to a certain goal. Thank you for sharing this game!

A nice entry!

I found it a little too difficult from the start. The box and bomb mechanics explanation could be more emphasized. The not very consistent explosions make player replay the level even if they did have the correct idea sometimes. Also this makes the player question, if the idea about solving the level is the correct one. It makes it a little frustrating. But I've played till the end.

I like the music and the sound effects. Bonking the box has a nice sound feedback.

The assets are pretty well made, especially the background is excellent.

The bunny runs a little weirdly, sometimes I couldn't predict, how fast will it get to the next obstacle.

Overall the game is solid, with strong idea behind it. Perhaps with some polish, this could make a decent game even outside Ludum Dare.
