Leftfoot Louie by TwoBitMatt
Take to the streets in a get-away car with a bag of cold hard cash. Louie, your best friend and wheeldog takes the helm as you try to evade the Fuzz and escape with your ill-gotten gains. Watch out, though, Louie likes to stick he head out the left-side window, and turns the wheel to match!!
This game was pretty fun to put together. There is no sound, even though we recorded FX for it, sadly it was left on the cutting room floor as we finished the game out. We also put together a rough storyboard for a comic intro that didn't get finished - you can check out some of that on our itch.io page. Thanks for the plays, we encourage any feedback, no matter how critical. Thank you all for your time, you're what make Ludum Dare so great!

We hated leaving the audio behind, had done some voice clips and everything for win/lose/crashes and game banter, but screwed up our time management and ended up with a couple hours to go making sure we were feature complete. Part of the experience, though. I'll probably go back and add sound at some point.
I think your experience with the car jumping was tied to a performance issue. I noticed during testing that when too many cars are active at once the physics calculations bog down. This causes the car suspensions to bounce and makes the car less responsive. Definitely not intended!
It got tense when I tried breaking through all the cops at the tunnel. Well done!
Nice concept overall!
I think I got all of the years of community service. Perhaps I can serve them concurrently....
We've put out an updated build out on itch.io if you're interested. I've added sound, fixed collision issues, corrected the car wobbling, done some major optimizations and improved the police AI. I think it's much improved now, pretty close to our original vision for the game jam.
Thank you all for making Ludum Dare the fantastic experience that it is!
Super cool that you did a Gamejam as couple :-)
I love the voice acting ahah ! Its hilarious.
Was super fun to play some GTA like game but old school.
It reminds me more of the crazy aggressive Cops of the old GTA2/GTA3 series. Not the fancy GTA5 AI.
+5 for the crazy Police ahah
Only downside, but maybe is a problem coming from my setup (Razer blade 2019) My car was always going left So I had to counter on the opposite side all the time.
Maybe this is intended, but the it would be cool to have a mini ground story to bring this gameplay constraint.
For example : when you start you see that you lost the left tires. :-D
