Pleased to be participating in my 3rd Ludum Dare. Keep it alive was a nice theme, I settled on this which was my second idea, and it came along nicely.

Game takes about 10 mins to play through once.

I finished the game with a score of 26045 in the first play through. At first it wasnt clear what i have to do. The theme kinda explained it by itself. I have to keep the forrest alive. I was wondering how do i get points. Eventually i figured i get more point the more trees are alive. But im still not sure if thats true. I also thought about putting the trees all the way to the left so the workers have to walk the longest distance to get more points? I really liked the artstyle the animation and the sounds. It is aesthetically pleasing. I think the gameplay could profit from another mechanic that spices it up by a bit. But never the less a solid entry. Thumps Up!

I would love to hear your thoughts on my entry <3

Animations and graphics are awesome, the core idea is also great!
The only thing is that as soon as you crack the best tactics, the game does not get harder. Maybe number of lumbers should grow over time.
But anyway, great job!

@Lorwon There isn't a way to win, I guess I should have said that somewhere. The only objecive is to get the highest score possible.

@wasd i LOVED something magical, was really fun to play and very relaxing. Ya, tree placement can be tactical to increase distance walked. Score is based predominantly on the number of trees you have, but the number of additional orcs increases a multiplier - so lots of trees and lots of orcs is the key to success

Fun game! The graphics look really cute, and I like the animations the trees and orcs have. Took a little bit to figure out what was going on, and what I was suppose to do to get a higher score. Anyway, Great job!

I checked this out after your lovely comment on my game. It made me think of the Doctor's little speech about a perfect ecosystem in Orphan 55, if you saw that. Otherwise, I think it's very peaceful and cute, with the slightly twee aesthetic and the minimalist style. Well done on getting it finished, and good luck in the future.

They cut down my trees!
44346 :-) But I needed two runs - in the first I also offered some trees to the orcs to "keep them alive"... xD
Nice game :-)

Nice idea!

As others said, a peaceful game. A bit too simplistic but I understand as you said you only worked on it on Sunday.
Would have loved some orcs coming from more than one direction, maybe different kind of trees, stuff like that.

Overall, a fun little game, congrats :)

I really like the general aesthetics of the game. The orcs have a nice bopping animation as they walk, it works really well for the general feel of the game.

I like the graphics, they're simple but they work very well with this kind of top view, and the game overall has a clean and polished feeling.

I think it would make a good management game if you added more interaction and resources and mechanics, but as it is, there is (for my tastes) not much of a game.

If you decide to expand it though, I'd be glad to play it again.
