Seasonal Survivor by rigdonware

Seasonal Survivor!

Survive all 4 seasons to win the game.

Keep your flower alive as animals come to try to eat it and the harsh weather conditions try to kill it.

Link for the game after Update #2 if you are interested in some small bug fixes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PQGZ4XBUjH9Ki8zOpqfPi3da8nYV9ajE/view?usp=sharing

Unfortunately I ran out of time to add audio to the game so that is a real bummer.

Update: I had bug in the game where it would half the amount of money received after each wave making the game unbeatable. Fixed and posted a new link 10 minutes after submission hour was over.

Update2: I was pretty disappointed after playing through this a couple times finding quite a few bugs and finding that the animals spawn rate max was not adjusted. I have decided to put another link just in this description that you can play if you would like to increase the difficulty a little bit. Small bug fixes in this link: * Animal random max spawn timer is adjusted * Food bar/Water bar would show it had a value (7/100 for example) when the bar was depleted) * Fixed a misleading sentence in the weather forecast for one day

This is actually pretty fun. With some music, and bug fixes this would be amazing

Really well designed game! I got to the end with just enough resources to keep the plant alive, it was quite scary.

Great artwork and fun game. I like the thought process behind the weather forecast and planning in the shop. I didn't really get the speed boost though. Did that make my mouse faster or swat speed faster? I didn't feel its effects much. Good work though!

Fun game. I thought this really did will with the theme. The time and lighting changes were super on point. Well done!

This is a nice little game, the balance is well done and the simple nature of the things to control is easy to grasp but deep enough to be enjoyable! I did experience my buttons failing to work after a while but that might be something to do with running it through wine

@tompudding haha same
I liked the concept a lot and it was pretty well implemented. The visuals were cute and I felt bad swatting the snails and caterpillars. I liked the weather and having to juggle the swatter and umberella. The help at the start was really effective.
My only two criticisms are it could be a tad harder, and I'd like some more visual feedback for the swatter, as when it's moving it's hard to notice the sprite change.
Nice job!

Nice job. It reminded me of the mini-game in Mario paint for the SNES.

An enjoyable game. There was a good balance between managing the plant and defending it from attackers. A bit of sound would have helped give feedback for your actions, but I totally understand running out of time. (Most of my submissions have lacked sound for that very reason.)

Another extension that might be fun would be to have the plant grow self sufficient over the course of the game. Either that, or add some weather event which overloads the food bar - maybe a fertilizer tornado or something sufficiently realistic...

I liked the simple graphics and animations; they all fit really nicely into the style. Some music and SFX would go a long way to help complete the mood. The umbrella mechanic help keep the gameplay from stagnating, although I would recommend shorter seasons (by about half), since things do get a little repetitive.

The balance for the first half seemed good, but by the time I got to fall, there were no more sun/water days, and even spending all of my money on food and water, I slowly ran out. I'm not sure if I was missing something, or if I just didn't stock up well enough during the summer (I had to spend $300 on umbrella and swatter upgrade, but otherwise all my cash went to food and water).

All things considered, this was a well executed concept. Great job!

That was cute!

I noticed that on rainy days the rain only appeared on the left side of the screen, I'm playing on a 4K display.

Nicely done! The only issue I had is that the graphics in the main menu and the tutorial menu glitched out a lot. Some sound would also be nice. Other than that it's pretty good!

I really liked the game :) I was consistently losing my health on my flower even in the rain while using the umbrella not sure what I'm doing wrong. Good job overall though

Your play again button is not working! (The quit button neither) But I always had to restart the game to play again! I did not try out the newer version as I wanted to rate your game for the COMPO that I also participated. I did also a game about a flower, you have to provide with rain and sun and squeeze little bugs. I like that we had the same base idear but approached it very differently.

You are probably know your self best what is working and whats not in your game. But as feedback I would like to leave you that you maybe try to focus on feedback the next time a bit more. Make it satisfying smashing a bug and buying things. So your mechanics (who are really good!) will be put under a better light. I like your game and think the flower power connection should stand on each others side :D
