Through Cosmos by Hadryel

[raw]
made by Hadryel for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

In this game you play as an astronaut trapped in a cycle of scavenging for resources and fighting for survival, running against time to keep the pace of exploring the Cosmos and avoid a weird demise. ThroughCosmosPlay.png

This is the second time I'm going for COMPO. I'm satisfied with the result, for a 48h run, but the code went downhill pretty early. Feel free to message me if you're willing to discuss anything about it, or any gamedev related stuff.

Great game! It was fun to figure out how to drill for some wood.

took me a while to figure out how to mine the rocks and trees, it would be nice that was explained in your instructions

Solid entry. Drilling resources had some odd hitboxes, but overall it felt good to play.

@thedarkmagi sorry for that! A tutorial level was brushed off due to bug fixing!

Fun game! The illustrations are of a great quality!
I also had trouble in the beginning figuring out how to get resources, I think you should add a simple text in the description of the game here explainting the controlls!

Art is very good! Maybe it need to improve the feeling in shoot mechanic, but the game is good, great work!

Art is great! I feel like the hitboxes on the little aliens was a bit off. With more time and polish and maybe some more complex levels this could be really cool. Solid entry that you should be proud of for 48 hours.

This is a great and well rounded game. Could use a little bit of polishing around the controls and instructions, but overall extremely commendable. Nice one!

I had some troubles to find how to play (in particular how to gather ressources), but I liked the arts and the music is quite peaceful.

Very nice graphics and animations! The music really fits the mood. One note- it seems like the gun shoots a little off- you have to aim just below where you want to shoot.

Like all the others have said, your artwork was amazing! Great job on the game :)

Same again, it was not clear how I was to gather the resources. It was by accident I had left clicked on the tree that I noticed it turned from a gun to a extractor. Good graphics, music suited the game. Great effort overall.

Amazing graphics! What a pleasure to look at game.. UI is very good too
Liked simple gameplay rules. This is also good that you did instruction page!

And cool particles while mining resources ;) But maybe need to more explicitly indicate when you can / cannot to mining - I mean the situation when you need to take correct position to be able to mine; other way you "miss" the object

And IMO, maybe need to tie the increasing time capacity **not** with killing enemies, because it's a bit strange; instead on just finding something kinda "capsules of time" in hidden places.

But anyway, I had fun playing your game!

P.S. I think you shouldn't worry about code base on game jam. Because time is very limited, it's better to focus on game in general ;)

Amazing Graphics considering you were in Compo that makes them more amazing. I think this game could be a really good mobile game if given more time. I did not encounter that many bugs, so it was pretty good on my end.

Amazing graphics, like others have said! Shooting is a little off, and it seemed like all the resources gave 3 each time, so scaling the requirements down and making resources 1 to 1 (e.g. a tree give 1 wood) would simplify things. Just my opinion though, everything else was great!

Very interesting survival game, actually mechanics are not new, but graphics and realisation is very cute. You shell add crafting and choosing different instruments, because it was hard to understand how to drill resources. But overall like it, great job!

The drawing are pretty good. The scary music suits well for an unknown dangerous alien star atmosphere. But the gameplay seems to be repetitive. (Well, for this theme, every game is more or less repetitive.)
In general, it's a nice cute little game.

The graphics and animation was really great. I felt guilty killing the cute aliens who were just chillin. The combat felt a little off, the pistol did not quite fire at the mouse location. I made it 6 levels, great job.

Looking great! The animations are super fancy

Gameplay was nice, good combination of combat and resource gathering with nice touches such as the weapon reload or the drilling needing some time to finish. The laser is not really shooting where the mouse is, which felt a little frustrating sometimes :P

was also great to just pick up and play without very many instructions - that said I think you did a great job with the tutorial slides!

I had to chuckle when I was drilling the trees :D

Good job, I had fun!

This was a cool game I really enjoyed it! Graphics were absolutely outstanding. I definitely felt bad killing the little alien dudes but they attacked me first! It definitely ramps up the difficulty at a steady pace. I made it to Level 6. Also the music was pretty well done and set a nice tone for the game. Great job!

The graphics and animations are really well done, the little aliens are particularly cute. The gameplay is ok, bit repetitive but it always is with resource gathering games. The music fit nicely in a sort of spacey eerie way. Good job.

The gameplay got me pretty bored pretty fast. In the same way no mans sky did. But the graphics are nice. It really bothers me that the laser doesn't turn with the pistol.

Not bad for 48 hours! You got a good amount of systems into the game, in addition to the nice graphics and audio. Instructions on how to extract resources would be nice, even if just here in your game description, or on the itch.io page.

The gameplay got repetitive quickly, but I think you could solve that by adding some upgrades in between levels. Like making the gun bigger and badder, along with the enemies. Seems like it turn into an addictive, never-ending gameplay loop.

Btw, those orange aliens were my favorite :P
