LOOP by Blue05

[raw]
made by Blue05 for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

A platformer game about about wandering around an endless void. Space works differently, and areas seem to repeat themselves. Is it possible to break the loop and escape, or are those who enter doomed to stay?

This is my 3rd game jam and first time participating in Ludum Dare. I wish I was able to add more levels, but I'm overall pretty satisfied with the result.

Changelog: 1.0.0.1 - Fixed some minor bugs(If either of these issues still happen and you are playing the patched version, please let me know! :) + Fixed a bug where the game wouldn't enter fullscreen + Fixed an issue where the audio is extremely loud

Awesome game. I like control, it's very responsive. Also mechanic is really interesting and I love this art style. Unfortunately I didn't found secrets, but I want to play this game later :)

Very very cool. The physics is excellent and level design pretty well crafted. What a pity there is no more! :D

Really great concept. I loved the controls and the level design. Only complaint is that the sound effects get very annoying after a while.

Loved it, very addictive and great interpretation of the theme. I figure you were going for an old-school look with the monochrome graphics and the beeps (which I love), but a bit of colour might be nice (may be to highlight dangers or treasures).

Great work!

Nice game ! At the beginning where to loop and where to go next is confusing, but the coins fix that (if you don't have all the coins you loop), the graphics are simple and well done (I love the particle effect that move when you go through it)

Interesting take on the theme. Fun to experience. I liked the particle effects. Great game for one developer.

Nice game. Especially for a game made by one person, congrats.
Also the game window was really small :/

I loved the moody 1-bit graphics. The use of the screen-wrapping worked really well with the level design. The only thing I didn't like was how loud the sounds were, but other than that, great game :D

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I was thinking about expanding upon the game in the future since I liked it so much. I will definitely take your feedback into account. I'll try to fix up some of the issues that have been mentioned too:

@kpedatte The game should be in full screen normally, so I'll need to look into that. Thanks for letting me know!

@extar I'll probably have to adjust the volume for the game. I thought I changed it in code, but maybe I missed something.

Just wow, I LOVED to play this game. It gave me super cool vibes. The grafics are amazing (and the particles effect is 10/10). I could play a game like this for hours, please after the jam ends extend this game aaaaa

A Nice solid puzzle platformer! I dig the little particles that react to the player. it adds more more ambiance to the game. This idea can be expanded upon nicely. a good solid framework. Also the introduction levels were great at teaching the player without feeling like a tutorial. kudos on that.

Very charming little platformer.. Nice, simple, and effective.. The character interacting with the particles was a nice effect. The last level took me a little while to get the timing but great game.. Oh and I suck because I didn't find any secrets hahah!...

Very nice. I love the movement of the character, very dynamic. And the simplicity of the art and sound. Just a bit movement of particules give a lot of life. Link to the theme, the fact that the screens are never the same when you go again out is well managed. I found only difficulties with the last screen. Challenging to take the collectibles while falling, but very gratifying at the end. Congratulation.

Really simple and fun idea with great levels to showcase the mechanics. Got 2 secrets, but that last was was far too tough for me. Was there a second ending for finding them all?

Visuals were great, and I loved the floating particles. Gave it a real otherworldly feel.
Would have loved some music too!
Reminded me a lot of the pico-8 version of celeste!

Clever idea and nicely implemented! The part with the five keys which you had to catch while free-falling was surprisingly difficult and the interactive particles are a nice touch. I dont know about the black and white style but thats just my opinion and background music of some sort would have been great!

@jam373 Thanks for the feedback! There's no different ending for collecting all the secrets. It was mostly just an extra challenge. I'm likely going to make a post-jam version later on, so I'll probably add some sort of alternate ending then. Some of the art I did for the game was inspired by the pico-8 version of celeste, mostly the tileset, so it's cool to know it gives off that feel a little bit.

I liked it, simple gameplay that works super well! The character is pleasant to control, responds well, the audio is minor but is enough for its vibe, and I like how the particles move when you walk across them, very fun!

The graphic style is well used, you master it, and the loop theme is very well jused, each screen looping on themselves from one side to another and you have to play with that to find an exit, and screens are not spacially connected, if you come back it's not the same anymore, really cool, you cna be proud!

Good Job!
The gameplay is simple, the interface is minimalist.
The fact that the screens only change by certain conditions is interesting, we have to use the loop system to continue the adventure. I like it!
