Hi there , this is a compo solo work for Ludum Dare 47.

It's a visual novel about a reality quiz show for hardcore players.

I made this game because I found out that nowadays players like to call whatever hard game "hardcore" and spend more and more time on just aimless practicing. And I really doubt the reasonability of this atmosphere. Is hard game a good game? Or, should game only serves what called "hardcore players"?

In that case why not let them be trapped in the endless "hardcore game"?

Please ignore the grammar or typo errors, I am not that good in English>m<.

Great drawings! I like the style a lot. I want to learn how to do that.

The game music question take a lot of time up and I'm assuming you didn't create that one? I'm not hardcore, but I did learn a thing or two!

@neonjeff Hi, thanks for your comment! No, I didn't create the music and I just knew that for compo I need to create an original music, sad for that. But for that music question this is made on purpose.I want to simulate how torture it is for non-hardcore player (or people who don't play game at all) to play what called "hardcore game", and everyone doesn't notice that this hardness is not that meaningful. We are just stuck in game designer's trap.

@yangying Ah ok! I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. I didn't know the games that well so wasn't sure if I just didn't know or if there wasn't an answer. I'm not hardcore enough to try all the options :) I like the idea!

That cheering sound when I answered right was amazin, I really felt happy

Great drawings too
The soundtrack question was pretty annoying though since I didn't know it and had to listen to it several times. Good that it was a nice song at least!

Thank you for your game

@evogengames Haha! That is exactly the same feeling for the player who is not that good at action or puzzle or platformer, stuck in one level is annoying! Thx for the comment!

Really enjoyed your game, Yangying! It felt very tongue in cheek humourous, and it fits the theme super well, especially having to start back from the beginning. The first few I got right and then... then it did get super difficult!

I really loved the audience reactions, which made it feel much more like an actual gameshow.

I love your pen-like style, it works super well. I was really bad at this game but I had a great time getting it wrong!

The graphics are very nice, and the idea is awesome. It fits the theme nicely.

The questions are a tad bit too hard IMO, so I am waiting for that walkthrough after all ;)

I really dig the art style. I'm stuck in the loop on the last question... Is there a special ending for if I get to the last question without making any mistake?

Why is the song question unskippable? It's so long and making a mistake there you have to sit and wait for a minute. Did I miss the skip button? The audio design here with the music, the boos, and the awwws, was AWESOME. I got a good game show vibe going, and the visual art was on point too. I wish I could play more, but I was not going to wait for the song to finish again. Pretty cool game, thank you :)

@ubershmekel Hi! Thx for playing. Yes, that shit music question is made on purpose. I just want to immitate how torture and meaningless it is when people playing the "hardcore game". Sometime designers just make the game with a ridiculous hard curve to keep the player playing longer.

@yangying thank you for clarifying. I didn't get that message at all. If the goal was to exemplify the grind of the gamer - then maybe the text itself should have been more on the nose? Eg "So you want to be a PRO gamer? Pass this quiz" and add more fluffy questions like "how do you get good?" with answers like "play more" and "get a sponsorship" etc :)

Cool game. I really enjoyed the art style and you really hit the nail on the head with simulating a hardcore grind. I got stuck on the music question because after getting it wrong the first time and waiting for the song to end, no buttons ever showed up and I just sat there in silence for a few minutes before giving up.

Was a fun game! I didn't really see the theme in the game. Just seemed more of a quiz to me. The theme might have fit better if you were sent to the beginnen when missing a question. With this you could also speed up question so you didnt have to wait for the announcer to speak or for the music to finish playing (Because that took quite a while)

@jvdwijk Hi, thx for playing. I think I understand the loop as kind of endless or unfinishing. So actually this game would never have an ending. If you want to watch the ending there is an answer script under the game browser.
