SPACE ORBIT by Guldfisk

[raw]
made by Guldfisk for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Your home planet is dying - can you venture into the dangers of space and collect the resources required to save it?

Space Orbit is a top-down spaceship game where you control a rocket flying in and out of different planetal orbits. Your goal is to find, collect and bring back resources from other planets so that your home planet can be saved. Just be careful so that you don't run out of fuel or crash into any dangerous debris!

Alright, I really enjoyed this one. The interpretation of the theme is on point, navigating through gravitational fields feels really good and the mood is on point, well done!

I love this gravity game. Very clever concept with a very good difficulty curve to it.

Nice game! The controls feel good and the theme is well respected, especially when you get stuck in orbit without fuel (maybe add a restart button for this situation). I would suggest increasing the size of the spaceship and zooming out a bit. It's difficult to see a planet coming, and then you have no possibility to evade.

This is an incredible game!

It feels very fluid and fun to glide around and explore the solar system. The camera action is really satisfying, and you've established a great sense of scale. The gravity and momentum are very well implemented-- It feels scary to get close to the larger planets.

I love the attention to detail, too. Things like the navigation lights on the ship, the orientation arrow, the little pull of fuel towards your ship, and the in-game start screen all add a very nice polish to a very strong game.

Maybe I'm a potato, but the game is very hard; that's my only criticism really. Maybe it's the zero tolerance for crashing, but after about a dozen playthroughs, I haven't collected more than 20 resources.

Regardless, this is really impressive. Really well done!

i loved the atmosphere and zooming though the gravity wells felt relly nice. The only thing i didnt like was the steering, i expected to just turn and burn to change the direction i am going, not only turning like on train tracks. Keep it up!

Damn, that's a nice surprise I got when the camera zoomed out when I left Earth's orbit!
it definitely has a nice atsmosphere to it!
I feel the game could have been a bit friendlier by refueling whenever you enter Earth's orbit for delivery tho :p
Well done!

This game is addictive. Good job! Absolutely on point. No feeling like drifting through space without fuel praying to hit fuel before a planet.

The gravity mechanic is really fun once you get the hang of it. It's challenging, but not unfair, even though I couldn't get past 20 resources.

This one is great. Good game mechanics and polished idea. The visualized gravity field is good idea. It is challenging as well.

Nice idea with the gravity fields, felt quite smooth to move eventually. Music adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Great game!

Very good! Movement felt great once I was used to it. I appreciate the randomized levels, but I also wish I had a chance to retry in the same system so I could really get used to the spacing of things and feel a bit more progression/mastery in my own abilities.

Very nice!! I loved it, fluid smooth controls, great concept with good mechanic. Decent art style and graphics.. Maybe some kind of tutorial or explanation of what happens when close to a planet, at first I thought they were shooting at me.. Still, good job!!

It's a pretty hard game, but I loved the mood of it! A little note about the html version on itch : I would suggest you increase the viewport height of about 20 px and uncheck the "fullscreen" button of itch. Good job!
