I am not a murderer by Bunkai

[raw]
made by Bunkai for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

You have being reincarnated as a 2d character. Your arm is stuck in the loop of shooting at people. You can't move around or stop firing, just turn around. However you are not a murderer, hence the name. Show it keeping your deaths at minimum.

Game resolution is 960×544px because i will make a (homebrew) ps vita version of it when is finished [meaning it will be for both platforms.

I'm not sure how a gun has that many bullets, but then so did Lara croft ;) . Overall a challenging little game, especially when you have six people running around in the room.

The game could maybe be improved, if the player would need to pick up stuff and walk around or something like that. Also the sound in the beginning was a bit loud ^^

The audio and graphics need some work. I like how the font looks like a creepy handwritten script, but for me it was a little bit hard to read.

The gameplay was pretty basic, I wish there was more to do other than move your shoot direction. I think trying not to kill the sprites is a good approach, but it needs to be executed a little better. Also, I don't quite get how it matches the theme.

thank you for your comments, i mostly agree with your opinion, that is why i didn't say anything until now.

To answer your question, matchaflavor. Pardon me, but i thought i let that clear in the description "Your arm is stuck in the loop of shooting". My idea of loop here is that, the player's character's hand is stuck on the loop of firing the gun.

I will try to improve everything you all said :D

@bunkai Ah I see. I guess I glossed over it :joy:, sorry about that. With looking at the description though, I still don't see it as a good fit for the theme personally, but I can see the logic that went behind it.

I liked the mechanic, where you have to predict the movement (maybe the DVD logo could've been more funny for this game lol and call it don't kill the DVD or something :cd: ) A bit of work on graphics and sound and could be a nice arcade game. Congrats

I found this quite unique maybe it would have been cool to upgrade the players gun each level to make it harder to avoid hitting "enemies"

I think the idea has potential it could work with, almost, any genre. I wish that you had to navigate from point A to point B instead of just waiting. Controls like nuclear throne would be nice too.

I didn't know that game (nuclear throne). I'll check it out to get more ideas for v2 (which will be up when the event ends :).

Also, thank you all for playing my game and give me that awesome feedback. It is very useful.

I am playing your games too :)

At first I thought it was to kill the characters, and look and said "look how easy", I hardly knew what was coming, I liked the idea I thought it could improve in the visual part, and add the fullscreen button there in the itch, congratulations , a big hug!

This Is one of them "It's ok but it needs improvement" type of games. I like the mechanic of the game and I think It would be better if the execution was a little better. Not really moody or humerous, It somewhat fits the theme, also here are my complaints

1.The text Is hard to read
2.There wasn't really a proper tutorial level
3.I feel like the graphics were rushed
4.The audio isn't so great and there is a bug where at the beginning of the level where a annoying sound plays for 5 seconds.

Overall I feel like this could have potencial if all of the critisism was fixed.

Interesting idea. I see how it fits the theme, especially with the horror-esque art style and audio (which was a bit loud for me). Conceptually I like the reversed objective of not trying to kill, which is sadly too common in games. I think adding more than 4-directions of aiming would've helped, and some limited ability to move. Good work though, keep tinkering!

I like the idea! As other people mentioned, it needs some work. I also played the second version and I think, you should add some visible barrier. It's strange when a player can't move with no visual indication.

I like the concept! Since the whole idea sort of rides on the out of control feeling we can build on that further. Would love to see the player moving/ gun shots changing (shotgun with spread etc.) This is a good starting point! :)
