Elements by Sir Magic

A Dungeon Crawl RPG where you use magic to keep your brother alive!
You are a fire mage set with the task of infiltrating a base of other mages to free your brother. Summon spells and dodge others as you make your way through.
Controls are given in the game but just as a reminder:
- WASD to move.
- Move the mouse to aim.
- Left Mouse Button to fire.
- Hit space while moving to dodge.
- Press E to interact/skip dialogue.
I'm opting myself out of graphics because although all of the art assets are created by myself, most were created before the jam started.
I've been enjoying LD so far this year. It feels like it's been ages since I did the last one so I hope to make the most out of this.
Changelog:
21/04: People were experiencing major issues where the player would clip through walls, rendering the game unplayable. I changed the way that the elements collide to ensure this shouldn't happen.

But the music was kickass. Seriously, the music and sound effects made fireballs feel powerful, and made me feel like I was always in the action, even when I wasn't.
The particle effects and the art complimented the game as well. Great job with this.
Finally, in terms of mechanics, shooting projectiles is pretty standard in dungeon crawlers. However, I loved how projectiles would split into a second, smaller projectile on collision. I loved attempting to get a bonus hit on enemies with this mechanic. The projectiles being linked to the player's health is also something I don't see much of. This made me have to manage my health when shooting. While I could spam fireballs if I wanted to, such an action may make me massively vulnerable. I love the idea of this.
If you were to continue with this game, more levels, projectile effects, enemy types, etc., would be real fun (you've played dungeon crawlers before, you know this). Your core mechanics are solid, meaning that however you'd decide to expand this idea, you'd have a good foundation.
Thanks for the game, great job :)
One thing I might consider is the screen shake is a little too much. Maybe limit it to every other attack.
Otherwise I really likes the controls.
Pro
- Clever optional tutorial
- Great art and effects
- Smooth controls
- Clever idea to use health as ammunition!
- Can even break stuff by shooting at it
- Hot fireballs
Con
- Bit heavy on the screenshake :D
- Music gets a little bit repetitive after a while; but that's complaining about super tiny details, sorry
All in all, excellent work!
I did get stuck in the wall a few times.
Overall very fun game.
Very impressive for 1 person!
Is it the new Unity 2D-lighting?
there is only 2 things very annoying you get blocked by the wall and when u go down you cant see your self behind the wall.
other than that well done
That lighting's super dope though.
What's your shader?
