Dungeon Grid by walpolea

made by walpolea for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Dungeon Grid is unique in the fact that the platform it's built on is a non-deterministic computational simulator called the Movable Feast Machine. Along with some skill in maneuvering your players, there's quite a bit of room for chance to play a major role with all dots on the grid having a random chance of being able to perform their programmed action.

Objective

Get as many players to the goal in each level, you only need 1 player to reach the goal to advance to the next level.

Controls

  • Left Arrow (turns bein player left)
  • Right Arrow (turns bein player right)
  • 4 turns (arrow key-presses) = 90 degree turn, so get spammy with it.

Detailed Gameplay

You start each level with a set of players. You use the LEFT and RIGHT ARROW KEYS to turn your players left and right, yes all of them at once. Steer them to a goal somewhere across the grid. Watch out for patrolling and flying enemies that will try to confuse and destroy your players. Score 1 point for each player you successfully maneuver to the goal. If you're going for points, be strategic about how you get to the goal, when your first player hits the goal a 30 second timer counts down the end of the level!

I LOVED these graphics.
The green blob that changes scenes is awesome to look at.

The game it self was to hard though, the blob controlling was very frustrating and in the end I just decided to smash the right turn button and hope they get there :stuck_out_tongue:

Good job and thanks for the game!

I didn't understand everything, but the game remains beautiful and the music pleases me a lot.

I enjoyed playing this game, the graphics remind me of Conway's Game of Life. However, it's hard to figure out how the game works at first. I would have enjoyed having a table that explains what the different colours mean and maybe some kind of explanation on what exactly the arrow keys do (I suppose they turn the player beins' direction by 1/16 of a circle) -- but maybe you intended figuring out how to play on your own to be part of the experience.

Interesting game! I haven't really seen a graphic style like that before, it was really cool. Agreed with nidrig that I got some Conway's Game of Life vibes.

Audio track was nice too!

This game was super visually interesting! I was definitely a bit confused playing it, but I definitely liked pressing buttons and seeing the little dots fly across the screen!

This was a very unique playing expirience, first off the thing thats the most interesting and hit me the most was the graphics, they were uniquely interesting and i enjoyd them.
