Looks great, I love the shadow of the player around the fire. The plink of the axe is very satisfying too. Not sure if there's an end state or not, but I ended up letting elvis die after clearing off most of the map.

I like the Pixel Art, shadows and the sound. I had a lot of fun hacking Elvis to the safe Fire and working myselft through the map. Regarding Elvis I missed some Music

Thx, didn't have time to add some music, but will do it later :)

This was fun, but it was too short.

I kept feeding the fire but nothing happened so I eventually quit playing. The art and mood was nice :) Reading the comments I realized that maybe I could have built more fireplaces? Not sure if there's an ultimate goal?
I was not sure how far out I would dare to go for wood since the warning in the text but didn't see any feedback.
I like the atmosphere though! And nice job on the art

The graphics are amazing, especially the fire, the shadow fits great too, overall, graphics really awesome, for the gameplay the night seems to take way longer than the day for me hahaha, but great job putting it together in only 48 hours

PS: Greenpeace would not like your game too much hahahaha

Your game looks really good, and sound effects are nice, but it lacks music. Gameplay also lacks a bit of diversity, you could add things later. Gameplaywise, I think it is too simple. You could also use a different sound effect when your axe hits wood, because you can't really see if you hit anything. The controls are also a bit wierd: why the n key? i think something like z to hit and x to feed the fire would have been better. Good game overall :)

Hey, thanks.
@robinerd was lacking time to put in some more gameplay, so there really only one ending :)
Cheers

@hakro Hehe yeah it's just a weekend after all and always some stuff that needs to be cut (haha) but looking nice what you got together!

Looks really nice. Crunchy SFX that match the setting - could do with music thought. Very nice!

The walking animation is great :D Is there any end to the game other than the fire going out? I kept feeding it wood but got bored after a while

Cool lighting and mood! Elvis was responsible for some serious deforestation that night.

Nice little game. Loved the art and the lighting effects. Wish there was more to the gameplay, though.

@robinerd , @madbookstudios, @irwatts for the feedback thanks guys.

@justin-c, that's the only gameplay indeed. Had a lot of ideas at the beginning, like a limited number of matches, that would allow Elvis to see in the dark, and start new fires when there are no more trees around. Also some more loots like car trunks to get some items to get through the night. 48 hours was way too short though, didn't even have time for some background music :)

Great concept!

Nice work with the lightening!

I also liked the pixel art!

I wanna try godot, I've heard good things about it, I liked seeing your game and having a demo of what can be done!

Congrats!

Very nice mood to the game.
Once you start a fire I've played for a bit, but it seemed that there's not much of gameplay after that.
Which is totally fine for a compo game, I was just hoping I'll be able to fight some enemies or make sure the fire doesn't get put out by rain or those kinds of things.

I really liked the graphics of the game. With some more things to do, this game has a potential to be really good.

Keep up the good work.

Pretty cool, I liked the shadow effect walking around the fire. I managed to find my last rock as it went pitch black, and the red writing for the match/firelighting instructions passed me by. :persevere:

I just had a look at Godot, it looks pretty interesting being a mix of two of the engines I play around with ( Construct 2 - HTML5 / JS Canvas 'Event' Driven Engine and Unity 3d /C# scripting )

Didn't know it was Free and Open Source - that's very cool.

@fernando-tonon-de-rossi & @johnnysix, thanks for the feed back guys :)
Yes Godot is a really nice engine, very lightweight compared to other engines, so you can get started very quickly. It's also free and open source, yet has most of the functionalities that you could wish for for Indie game dev (both 2D, and 3D), so I can only recommend you give it a try ;). It's also quite easy to learn.

@kaisean-games , thank you for your feedback. Indeed, there is not much gameplay than that. I had many ideas, including adding ennemies, and the ability to migrate to another place if you run out of nearby trees, by keeping the fire alive with a torch, but didn't have the time to add them :)

routine fire game, but with specific sharm. shadows and lights are really cool

Raycasting and particles were nice looking, one thing I noticed: north facing shadows render on top of the player model.

Simple and clear game. It is unclear when the night will end. It is interesting to play, the mechanics are worked out
