PRECURSOR

PRECURSOR is a unique mouse oriented puzzle game in which you must hastily move to keep your mouse alive while enduring obstacles, mazes and other problems thrown your way. Its levels are designed to be difficult although the game is rather short and it should only take around 10 minutes for you to complete.

A nicely done game here. The pacing and the visual style was just right to be challenging yet zen-like for a mouse obstacle course.

A level select or checkpoint system would be a nice addition. It got tedious trying to recover from a mistake in the 4th and 5th stages by going back to square one.

I loved the soundtrack and the overall idea of keeping the mouse cursor alive. Although the controls felt a bit wonky and it was really frustrating to restart from Stage 1 because of one little mistake in Stage 5 or 6. You could call this a hard game, not bad!

this is really cool idea and the atmosphere is really calming although it is quite hectic to go thru some puzzles :) Overall very nice entry. Thanks for that!

Nice core mechanic, the dexterity/control challenge was quite fun. I quite like the aesthetic too (reminded me slightly of Superhot). I seem to keep getting thrown back to the start after completing the third stage, but the other comments seem to suggest there are more levels than that (maybe the game got confused by multiple monitors or something?)

This is a really great idea! However, the cursor really lags behind my actual mouse movements for some reason which makes it very difficult to control. On top of that, the collision is really wonky, which got pretty frustrating in the levels where you had to go fast with accuracy. Overall with some more polish this could be really cool. Good stuff!

This is such a traditional type of game, I love it. It was extra difficult since I was playing on a track pad, but these sorts of games are so fun to play because of the challenge. Great job!

Not the first game i play with the mouse as a character but this one is the first that reminds me of good old platformers with its difficulty. Idk if it was a bug or if it was intended but the mouse felt "heavy", with some kind of lag, which made the experience slightly less great. Keeping the graphics simple was a great idea to help the player focus on the path. Level design is great but i would have changed the order of some levels to smooth the difficulty curve. Also maybe add more checkpoints could be one way to improve the game. Great entry though !

The mouse heaviness was a huge problem for me throughout the development of the game. Earlier the code I wrote used to even directly edit windows files to try and fix that lag but I decided that it was too intrusive on the user's machine so I deleted it. I wish the lag was something that could be fixed easily, but there's always a little bit of loss in fidelity going from windows to unity.

This was really neat, reminded me of an IO game where you had to move your mouse to certain and work together to solve levels

Feels weird to have a checkpoint before the "sike" bit, but then after it I have to replay everything all over again? Definitely appropriately challenging, but I eventually gave up because I was sick of playing the first four or so levels.

@thaniel I ran your game on Linux so I originally thought it was just an issue with wine, since I had some issues with other Unity builds for Windows.

I think at some points the mouse "hits" something even when there is nothing on the screen (or there is some delayed action?). It showed me, how poorly I control my mouse :D It is difficult, but it was fun :)

What a fun idea! So innovative :D sadly, at some level it became too hard for me, but I will come back for more ;)
In the beginning I had NO clue what to do, so maybe add a bit more of a tutorial or even in this post "Yes, it's about your computer mouse" or make a screenshot with the mouse inside or something, players like me are dummies ^^
I feel like this could also work great as a mobile game :)
so maybe assemble a team of gamedevs and artist and gt this thing on the road ;D a.k.a. appstore ^^
good job on finishing your game all on your own :)
