Mudcar Sprint by Tutti Ankka

Mudcar Sprint is a game about driving around in a mud circle trying to avoid other cars. You only have 4 lanes and you can switch your lane with arrow keys. This was my first ludum dare since LD41, so it's been a while. But it was fun to make a game in 48h again!
Controls: Left and right arrow keys
Programs used: Unity 3D engine, Blender for 3D models, BFXR and Cubase for sounds and music (car sounds are from my real car btw).

Model is cool, wish more items and systems can be updated in the future
I loved the music and the graphics.
I missed an evolution of difficulty.
The low-poly 3D graphics are cool too. One thing I would have probably done is turn up the roughness setting a lot on the material for the mud (or just on the default material, if you only have that one). That should remove the ugly glare from the skylight. It's just a nitpick though, it still looks great as-is, especially with the nice models!
Secondly, the graphics and audio are great. They don't blow your socks off or anything, but they are very cohesive and clear.
Overall, the game is pretty simple, but it's just executed really well. Nice job!
Great job on the music, especially the evolution of the drums through the sections and the various turnarounds, really kept my head banging without making me bored.
Overall look was very nice too, with some solid models, nice crisp clear track lanes, and an overall nice palette of colors. Title screen with that text bouncing to the music got me all ready to go!
The gameplay itself was solid, but it wasn't exactly the METAL I was hoping for... it was kind of a pacifist mosh pit, with everyone politely staying in their lanes, and the no-touching rules very strictly enforced. When I'm driving in the mud to metal, what I really want is to slip and slide just over the edge on the wrong side of control, roughing up the walls, the other drivers, and myself. This game was not that game, and that's completely fine of course!
I did still enjoy some of the really narrow calls in the lane-switching -- I appreciated the tension of how tight some of gaps were. I eventually needed some more variety to the gameplay, but for a compo this was still nice scope.
And I'm still listening to the music in the background as I write this review and STILL haven't gotten bored of it!
Edit: still letting this song run... if you dig this sort of music, I can recommend checking out the game Jupiter Hell, I'm getting vibes of that soundtrack from your tune.
But it's still a great result for Compo
Hi-score 1120
Cheers!
The game looks great, the controls feel very responsive and the music and sounds fit very well.
I love the explosion 💥
Gameplay wise, it is a bit boring though. Does the speed increase with time? It didn't feel like anything changed, so it became a bit repetitive too quickly. I'm sure that with just little tweaks to increase the difficulty over time this would be a very cool game!
Thanks for the game, incredible work for a compo 💕
