made by Vesk for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Conquer this cursed looping dungeon that you've found yourself in.

How to Play

You start without any items (sword or keys). Your health slowly depletes over 40 seconds, at which point you restart at the beginning, but you do keep whatever items you've collected. You can destroy crates with your sword, and open doors with their respective keys.

About

This is just a tiny game I made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 47. Despite countless attempts at it, this is my first ever completed game for the jam and I'm pretty happy with it. This is also my first completed jam game in the Godot engine. In the spirit of open source I have included the source code of the game, but I must say I think it is way too messy to be of use to anyone.

Credits

The amazing music was made by my friend Svarog, although it was made before the jam, so I excluded the game from the music rating, even though I love the soundtrack. You can listen to the whole song over on his SoundCloud, where he has tons of other quality content.

The pixel art is for the most part a modified version of this tileset made by 0x72. I originally planned for that to only be work-in-progress art, but I ended up not having enough time to redo the art myself, which is why I also excluded the game from the graphics category, but it is a really cool tileset so I'm happy with it.

Wow that was fun! I liked the challenge. The music was super cool and the dungeon was nicely designed. Would be nicer if the music didn't reset every time health runs out so I could hear more of it. Loved the final boss, was able to cheese it by just running circles around it :D.

yeah I ran around in circles around the boss too, but it was fun the whole way through the game, this game was pretty good despite the limitations with animation

Fun little game with slight issues on telling the player what's actually going on. But other than that, great mechanics!

Fun game, loved the music! Would like to have more sounds, like a sound for any attacks or doors opening, but I enjoyed it!

Love it, thanks a lot for this game! Had to figure out what to to at the start, but once i figured that out it was really good. The enemies are a bit simple, because you can just run around them and never get hit. The endboss was a bit diffucult at first, but i got him at try number 3. Cool game!

Super Fun To Play. I was getting enter the gungeon vibes.

Some Things That Need Improvement
- Give Some Feedback To The Player When Damaged. Maybe a Red Flash Or Camera Shake. It Was Hard To Tell When I Got Hit Without Looking At The Corner Of The Screen.
- The Music Starting Over When The Level Restarted Was Really Annoying.

Well done! The game was one of the most fun ones I played this LD, so much so, I was sorry to finish it. I myself try to make game jam games on the shorter side, but in this case I wouldn't mind playing for another 10-15 minutes. But it doesn't affect my fun rating even a little bit .)

Even without animations it looked and felt great. Some simple movement animations, audio for attacking, walking, etc., some screen shakes, and lighting might (or in other words, juice) would make this game top notch! Well done friend!

its a fun game, i think the only thing that could be improved is the player feedback.

I really liked the mood. The simplistic gameplay worked really well. I had a bit of a hard time with the reset/loop where I couldn't tell what the bigger goal was yet. All in all though I liked the direction.
Good job!

Hi there! I managed to beat the boss and complete the game. The game feels pretty finished. Yes, it'd be great to have walking animations and there were some tiny issues here and there, but it felt pretty good and the concept works quite well. You managed to implement lots of different enemy types (on top of the final boss). Can't add much more to that, well done!
