Roho - immortality of a deer stalker by stuembi
ROHO
Keep the forest animals alive by rescuing their souls after hunters have shot them. Upgrade your spell at the shrine in exchange for cristals.
Try and defeat death!
We paired up for our first ludum dare and created this game in godot with sweat and tears. Try it out and please let us know what you think! :smiling_imp:
Controlls:
a, s, d, w to moove
left click to shoot
esc for pause menu, choose with a, s, d, w and select with spacebar/enter
move over a spirit to pick it up and bring it to the shrine
move over a item on the shrine to buy it

Added a web version but it only runs on chrome and firefox plus its buggy.. we suggest downloading it :dvd:

Thank you all guys for those wonderful comments and feedback!!
Really needs some sound effects, and as a fellow Godot dev I can tell that you put an AudioStreamPlayer2D on the top-left corner of the map for the music, while you should just use a plain AudioStreamPlayer, since the former is for positional audio.
Great job!
As a fellow friend of isaac, we are happy you noticed brimestone and got your fun out of it. (i am a huge isaac fan )
UI was really buggy, couldn't exit the tutorial and restart game without refreshing the page.
Also, sound only came out of the left earphone in a weird way,
and lastly each time I cast a spell the game lagged terribly, making the game almost unplayable for me... looked really nice though.
We will try to fix all those problems as best we can, the game is better playable if you download it.. but we will try to get it work on the website aswell.
thank you again for your feedback and maybe you will give it a try later :-).
A few small quality of life changes could really improve the atmosphere (like shooting noises and sounds when enemies die/hit you), but other than that its an awesome game!
Overall, really good. Reminded me a bit of Sword&Sworcery artwise, and the great watership down movie.
You truly did a good job with the presentation and putting together a functional jam project. This is certainly up there in the top *something-something* quantile.
Moving around and shooting badies (and goodies? Where's the theme gone!) is very basic. Holding down the mouse button should autofire and some kind of a dodge move wouldn't go amiss. Grinding to get to the boss fight wasn't much fun, but **Death** put up a show at least. Pleasantly surprised about that.
The music didn't loop properly and the very last animation loop had an issue too (with the dude turning into a non-dude repeatedly). The initial spell has a neat trail effect, but the whole trail evaporates upon impact, which is jarring. That too would be easy to fix simply by waiting for some time before freeing the resource.
In all, despite the niggles, this is proper solid stuff.
thank you so much that you took the time todo such a detailed feedback!! We will definitely try to fix those problems or do it definitely better next time! :) i really appreciate your honest comment!! All the best and a great ludumdare 😘
- The first attack freezes my game temporarly when I click, which made the game kind of hard to play. Maybe you're instantiating too many game objects at once ? Not sure but maybe you should use object pooling instead for the attacks ^^ (totally understandable that you didn't have time to do it in time though :joy:)
- I really like the art but the colors made the game kinda difficult : the lack of contrast kind of tired my eyes personnaly, and might make the game hard for people with color-blindness (not sure though).
- Anyway, really nice game overall :D
