Fight the virus by drschizzo

[raw]
made by drschizzo for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

You are a doctor trying to fight an epidemic. You can move with the arrow keys, you can protect people by sending them a mask with the left shift key and you can heal infected people with the left control key. Infected people can infect others and will die after 6 sec without heal. Your goal is to keep everyone alive. You lose the game if you reach 20 deads. You can adjust some parameters of the game with the sliders to make it more or less challenging.

It's the first time i make a projet with Unity. It was a lot of fun to do it! I Hope you'll have some fun playing with this little game...and don't forget protections help a lot in epidemic!

Post Compo V1.1 : - new control mode (mouse + arrow keys) - possibility to heal an infected just before he died (when he is yellow) - timer on the game over screen so you can try to beat your best score

Although the control scheme is not the best, the game is good. You can shoot people to heal them! Wish it was so simple in real life.

Perfect usage of the theme ! It's a really smart representation of how the epidemy spread between humans (with or without mask protection)... and how difficult it is for doctors to threat all this amount of sick people ! I had fun playing your game, great work !

Fun. A little bit repetitive but it had some interesting gameplay so it kinda leveled out. Liked the art and found the movement smooth! good job!

Congratulations on finishing the Jam! Nice game and nice theme!

Like the graphics and static camera view.

Controls feel a little off, it's really hard to walk.

Cool idea and great use of the theme! The controls are a bit weird and it is hard to play. The graphics looks great though!

Suitable for the current situation. If it were that easy to just shoot the medicine. Nice job.

Nice idea! Showing how the epidemic spreads in society. But for the life of me I couldn't get used to the controls

Thanks all for your nice comments. For the controls i agree it would have been much better with straffing and rotation with the mouse. But as i m quite beginner with unity i didn't manage to implement this on time. I'll may be post a second link with an updated version later. (but notation should be of course on the initial realese!)

I like the Interpretation of the Theme in the current circumstances. The vision is onpoint with the displayed content. I had Enjoyed it a little more, if the controlls were a little more intuitiv.

Funny. Could not make heal work, though.

@baturinsky heal (left ctrl key) only works on infected people (the red ones) and make them neutral again ... but you may have found a bug ... it is unfortunately not impossible :)

Nice, a disease spread simulator game. At first it was a bit difficult to aim at the correct targets (maybe a dotted line would help? or crosshairs?) And not easy to see where the doctors front or back are. Fits the theme well, I think. Good job!

@zondarg Originally the camera was much closer (I spent far too much time fixing an animation problem on the blouse which is barely visible ... ) I finally moved the camera back because it was more funny with a lot of character but it's actually a bit complicated to aim and to spot the direction of the character. At the same time it adds a "panic" dimension which is adapted to the situation

The idea is great, but it's too hard to control with fixed camera.

So we are in the same Corona club, uh ?
Good game, the models are great and the fixed camera is nice to have an overview of the board. However, a more classic arrow => "move to direction" would have been more suitable I think (yet I am glad to see a unity game using the arrow keys, other tend to use WASD which is broken on non-qwerty keyboards!).

The sliders are great to set difficulty, but a bit tricky to master. Maybe a more "global" slider that move them all would have be nice too (that way, you could implement some kind of level/difficulty up)
Anyway, very good first Unity project !

Nice idea :) the controls are kinda weird, but you can get used to them. Also the game could use some more/content mechanics: maybe a "healing grenade" or a virus monster which quickly infects others? The graphics and animations were also nice.
