TheGlowingBook is a text-based game. You found pages of a book on the floor, and you need to find missing words and annotate pages to help other players in their adventure.

This game was designed to be played on IRC. However, sometimes the bot gets kicked-out during the game, please tell me if you experience issues! You can use the first link (IRC webchat) to connect to the IRC server where the game is hosted and type /query LD46 start to launch the game.

For convenience, I also made a bare HTML interface (second link). It does not fully reproduce the IRC experience but might be more stable than the IRC connection.

Please note that any annotation you add in-game will be used as hint to other players. Try to be helpful!

Really interesting idea. I really enjoyed it. I will return once there are more guesses because i got stuck in one guess.

One of the best games of this edition of LD I have played so far :)

Great work!

Very cool! Never have I played something like this. Worked great with both clients. Might want to consider a filter for some of the submitted words, or edit the dictionary to avoid some swears/slurs.

This is really different to anything I've played. Really enjoyed the concept and great execution.

@wooowooo Yes... Indeed, I think I will have to do some filtering, even though I wanted to let the players participate in any way they want. For example, I won't filter out words that do not make sense in the context, only offensive words.

@taffaz i think it was the n word I saw that made me think it wasn't filtering for offensive words, but glad to hear its filtering some

Super interesting take on the theme! I just wished it was longer, as when I got to the end I was engaged and wanted to know more about this mysterious book.

The concept is unique, and the "multi-player" element that it has adds a nice touch. I like that other player's entries also double as hints, on top of revealing a bit more about universe and other people's interpretations.

Amazing entry, well done!

Unfortunately the first page I got was a page 0 that I tried 10 or so words on several of which were annotated as frequently tried, but I was all stuck. Interesting idea though. As there's no restart, or none I've discovered, I'm not sure what to do.

That game surely stands out from the others, it reminds me of the old text based games, it's great and refreshing game from all the common genre. Good job!

This is a pretty cool idea for a game! I feel as if the execution could have been improved - maybe a party game of some sort with this mechanic would be cool. Keep it up!
