Stranded

UNDOCUMENTED KEY -> In the game you can press M to mute the music.

Is a dice game that simulates being stranded on an island. You need to keep yourself alive by Hunting/Gathering Berries for food and Collecting water. You can collect wood and once you get 25 you you be able to build a signal fire. Once a signal fire is built you have a 40% chance of a ship appearing. You can also scavage the island looking for upgrades to your actions, but you only have a 40% chance of it working. It is possible to upgrade your scavage, max is 50%. If you go 3 days without food or water you will die and lose the game.

Move the dice from the dice tray to a matching number in the colored panels. Sixes are wild and can be placed anywhere. Once you have finished placing the dice you can click the End Of Day button to process the actions. You get 3 rerolls per day. If you click the reroll button and the dice don't change its not a bug it just means you rolled the same number.

To win the game you need to get 25 wood, build a signal fire and then signal a ship.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • The difficulty is kind of on the hard end.
  • The number of Wood Required on the Build Signal Fire panel is wrong. The tip below it is correct.

Great job! I really like that this is a worker placement game stripped down to the basics and streamlined as a video game.

I played way more than I expected lol. But that honestly felt like surviving on an island. I did win as well, but was cutting it really close. Controls were snappy, mechanics were easy to grasp. Good work!

Good game with good graphics. Everything is good but the text on some of the buttons are too small. Great game though

Nice game. Not sure if the food and water for each day is correct. It showed I had 0 food and I gathered for (1-2) food, but I needed 3 food for the day. When I ended the day it still showed I had 0 days without food.

Fantastic idea! This would also work really well as a board game. Fonts and Main menu UI can be improved, but your gameplay is really strong. Did have to read in the description about the 40% chance a day of a ship appearing, so some feedback ingame about that would be good.

Odd choice of music for a desert island game

Very interesting setup! Being on the hard side was pretty correct, it seems - when I noticed the required per day go up, I got a bit worried haha
I like the dice game design as it can in theory work in real life as well (probs a bit hard)

@itskdog I didn't want to show negative numbers for the food and water so if you don't meet the daily requirement it will so 0.

@sacrface I agree, some feedback about the ship would have helped. Music is not my strong point  But yeah I can see how it doesn't give off a desert island feel.

@orcifried I think I should have either found a better way to do the daily requirement or started the player off with more food and water. Starting with 10 or 15 would have probably given you a better chance. It would have allowed you to scavage for a few turns in hopes of raising the amount of water you can collect. I also though about starting the water with 2-3 but sadly I didn't get the programming done when I wanted to and it cut into my time to balance and polish the game.

@ Everyone: Thank you all for playing my game and for leaving feedback.

Had a lot of fun with this one, played for a while. It was weird to not get punished for not having enough food or water no matter how high it got as long as I had one.

Oh cool, I love the idea. I also like how 6s are wilds and can be placed anywhere. nice game.

Game was fun, although I feel like I should have lost a few times -- the game did not seem to be properly tracking days without food/water. Thanks for the game!

Great game, would have enjoyed a few more options for what I could "buy" with my dice but overall very nice game.

I was worried when I saw the food cost going up and wasn't getting levels on those abilities but still managed to signal the ship. Great idea, would love to see it expanded further.

Interesting concept. Quite difficult too. I never realized I needed more food and water as the days went on. Couldnt figure out why i couldnt keep any food or water

Nice idea, though it would have helped to have better visuals for easier understanding!
Also thank you very much for looking into our game and leaving a review <3

Nice! Love the dice concept. My only critique would be that the difficulty could have risen a bit higher more quickly, whether it be by reducing the number of dice or amount of re-rolls each day.

I don't really understand the game. The required per day water and food does not seem to work, because even if it says it requires 9 or more a day, you can just survive by gathering berries and collecting water. Doing it that way, you it's almost impossible to loose.

The concept seems really nice. I enjoyed the dice part, but it seems it need more features and testing to be interesting.

Holy crap I won! What a roller coaster. At first I was put off by the seemingly complicated interface but it only takes about 30 seconds to learn. Then I thought 'this is easy!' as I stockpiled food. Then I realized that the amount of food and water you need increase over time, lighting a fire under my butt. I almost died when I got one particularly crappy roll. And it seemed like my Scavenging always failed. But lo and behold, I somehow saved up enough wood and flagged down a ship a few days after that. To me it felt really balanced. No complaints here other than maybe clarifying some of the UI and instructions to make the learning curve less steep. I spent way longer than I usually do playing an LD game, so well done. :)

Nice concept, i don't know if it's a bug, but, i was consuming 12 food a day, but just collecting berries and water is enough to stay alive :)
Good job.

Great idea! First dice game I've seen this jam, really liked the balancing of choosing what to re roll and what to keep.

Clever! It's like yahtzee, but it feels very much more alive because of the story. I liked this a lot. :)

I really enjoyed this! I loved playing with the dice. You did a good job with the UI so that I knew what I had to do for the most part (only thing I wasn't sure of was "Scavage"). I think the signal should have just been the end of the game, rewarding the player. Also, maybe the dice could persist each round, giving the player something to work towards each time. Overall, nice job!
