made by BlueCalx for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

An Ogre is defending a small village in exchange of some sacrifices. Try to grow your village without collapsing your population with too many sacrifices. Be careful! The Ogre will need some food and he's grumpy if you deliver something different or not at all... Also keep your moral high in your village if you want some newborn !

Really fun to play, with a better interface and graphics your game would be so cool, it is already really fun to play "WHY ME" :)

This game was pretty cool. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, but once I did, it made sense. I particularly liked the mechanic where the ogre wants you to sacrifice a particular villager, and you have to decide whether it's worth taking the morale loss to sacrifice somebody else.

I had a few minor frustrations while playing this, and found a significant glitch. First, it would be *really* useful to be able to see whether a villager can be promoted to a higher level job without having to click on them first. In the current version, I spent a lot of time randomly clicking on villagers until I found one that could be upgraded.

The glitch I found happens when the ogre is rampaging through the village killing people. If you take the person that the ogre is currently targeting and sacrifice them, the ogre chases them onto to conveyor belt and then disappears. From this point, it looks like the ogre is gone and you can play completely peacefully.

Overall, the core game loop here is pretty fun, and with more polish this game would be really cool.

Interesting concept and take theme, keep the orge alive by sacrificing others?

constructive feedback: I had a bug that the ogre came down raged rampage then ran off the screen never to return.

positive feedback: Interesting idea of assigning jobs and balancing the bars in top left. Simple yet effective, great job!

Great game, it took me a bit of time to get what was going on, but once i did it was cool! The ogre is well done and the rest of the graphics have some charm. I had a bug where the ogre goes on rampage and then dissapear for ever but i didn't loose.

+ the interface is nicely done!

The game principle was somewhat hard understand in the beginning (I didn't realise you could klick the people at first). After a few minutes of playing it was a lot of fun though.I especially liked the orge grafic. Good job with that.
I sadly experienced a bug where the sacrificed people would get stuck in the bottom right corner.

Nice idea, I only won cause there was a bug, the feeding of the ogre broke, the sacrifices piled up and when his food bar was zero he didn't go on a rampage

funny and nice game :) bit hard but fun. Would be a bit better if instead of bars of food/morale you had actual numbers + when creating a farmer or someone, you would see the change it would create. But overall nice idea and I also liked the little bits of humor: "why me?", "let's go" haha :D

No bug for me and I won the game :) it did take me a little while to understand what was going on though. For example, I didn't know the villagers appearing next to the ogre were what he wanted, it would be useful to have a backdrop behind them like a thought bubble or a wooden sign or something. I also never figured out why some villagers could receive a role or an upgrade; sometimes I couldn't assign anything until a while after they spawned. It did keep me going though until I completed it, so good job :)

Took me a little bit to understand how to progress, but eventually got it. It wasn't clear the purpose of a builder, as I didn't see anything get built. Also, it'd be nice if the farmers went to the fields. Sometimes the people congregate in weird areas of the screen, and sometimes my sacrifices got stuck just before entering the conveyer belt. Good work!

It took me a bit to understand what was going on, but once I did the challenge didn't seem very difficult - just get enough of everything, occasionally feed someone to the ogre, and wait until the win conditions are met. I think the game would be improved by having fewer villages, but making more meaningful choices - perhaps if there was some incentive to sacrifice higher level villagers, that would help. Interesting idea, though, and the graphics are nice - especially the ogre itself (and I greatly enjoy the idea that the villagers get put on a conveyor belt to the ogre!) - and the audio is subtle, but a nice touch. While it definitely needs more balancing, I can see this growing into a unique game.
