Loko by Dinaharison

[raw]
made by Dinaharison for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Loko means color in Malagasy.

You play a little black box, it blackens everything it touches and the goal is to survive as long as possible. The enemies (colored box) will want to colorize the blackened objects and the little black box only survives if there are blackened objects.

Use A or E (default) to turn the camera.

Use the space bar to kill enemies.

Use ZQSD (default) or the arrow keys to move.

This game was create with cube.

This game was created with Unity 2019.2, and uses:

-TextMesh Pro 2.0.1

-Post Processing 2.1.7

Sounds come from the unity assetstore:

-Ultimate Game Music Collection

-Universal Sound FX

Have fun!

This was rad as hell! Very polished, simple graphics turned appealing and the hordes of enemies started to reach memory leak status, but the performance never dropped, so it worked great!

I like the graphics and feels very polished as well. It would be nice to have a cooldown indicator for spacebar.

The drums for the soundtrack are an absolute bop. The graphics are nice and fun. Really cool looking game!

First thing that jumps out - I really love your squishy text system. Beat's frickin catchy, art's frickin cute, gameplay falls in the highest percentile of addicting.

Very cute, very polished, well done! I love the mechanics, it's a great take on the theme and very fun!

A few things though that could really improve the experience: the UI is pretty bad and the pacing isn't too great.
-There's no easy restart when you die as the tutorial keeps replaying.
-Having a slower tutorial would be nice, it does move very quickly, I could barely read it in time.
-The few rounds I played the pacing was somewhat slow, and then all of a sudden it was super fast. A more linear uptick in pace would make this game a killer.
-The English was off, maybe have someone check it next time.

Overall great job though! Definitely one of my favorites so far!

Nicely polished, dem squares are looking crisp son. But I think you should have added a cooldown on the space button attack because I just spammed that bad boy until the whole screen was completely fulled with dudes.
also the default (not arrows) keys are wack.

I love how bright and bouncy the cubes are. Style and the map generation works really well. Great job!

Nice polished game !

It's just a bit bordering to not have a info (sound or ui) when you can attack.

The procedural map is cool too but on one off my run the map was almost cut in half by to close object on a "line".

Really well polished. Nice little animations and sounds to bring it all together. Controls were a little difficult to pick up at first though.

I really love the vibe and the animation but I couldn't get the game to move past the last dialogue. I tried all the keys on the keyboard and got no response from the game other than the camera rotate. Nice degree of polish on what I could see though. Nice one! ^_^
