Blastaround by andrew-marsh

Shoot asteroids. Time wraps as well as space, so you will have to work together with past versions of yourself, but avoid them and their bullets, and make not to kill them, as that would cause a time paradox.

Awesome idea! It was nice to be happily surprised that there was more to the game than it looks (didn't read description). Would be cool to see 'clones' that help you in addition to them being enemies.

Very cool idea. I love to see these "rewind & replay" style games. Nice work!

Fun take on a classic arcade game. Got a little frustrated when the loop reset and I immediately died, but that's as much my own fault as anything because I should have known where the asteroids were going to be!

@minibetrayal good point, if I were to expand on this game I would probably add a dashed outline of where asteroids and the first ship are going to be that appears in the last few seconds of the loop to give you time to dodge away.

Whenever building for web....try using w a s d instead of arrow keys.....it usually scrolls the page as well...

But The Concept was good...and to the theme.....

@Jarvisp99 Good advice, I think it's okay in this instance as you can use only the left and right arrow keys for turning, and use Z to accelerate forward, but I will keep this in mind for future web games. I also think I can solve that issue by disabling the default behaviour of the arrow keys when you are focused on the game.

It's a very good game! I couldn't beat the hard mode tho... I'm not very good at that kind of game, so adding more obstacles makes it so difficult ^^. It's a detail, but when going to the menu, the previously picked difficulty should be set by default, so that I only have to press the start button again. It happened more than once that I restarted in "normal" while trying to beat "hard".

I especially love the visuals, and am always impressed how this style gives a great feeling of consistency yet being so clean. I would have loved to hear a nice music over it, too bad. The sound effects gave a nice feeling tho.

Good entry!

@Rolly good point about making retrying more convenient and making music is something I will learn and apply to future jams.

The normal difficulty is quite easy, but the hard is actually very hard, and is where the game shines!

The time loop mechanic (and the friendly fire) really adds a lot of depth to the game. Good job!

Really fun experience - great take on a retro classic. I was kind of shocked that such a simple addition to hard mode could increase the difficulty so much, but that's a credit to the strength of the core idea. Like others, I think the mood could have been enhanced with a bit of a soundtrack, but the sound effects work nicely, and overall I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Lovely minimalistic lineart! The sound effects were fine, and for some reason this game felt fine without music. The UI could be polished, and maybe add a bit of screenshake when you die? But this game was compo. We barely finished our jam game!

Really cool approach to the theme. I really like the simplistic style of the art and audio. The game play is very engaging and fun. Awesome work!

Would be great to have some background music. The loop is quite cool and the hard mode with two asteroids really helps show off the looping mechanic.

I love it when seemingly very simple concepts can lead to rather deep games. I mean, it cannot be "that" hard to beat, can it ?

Great concept! I'd love to see something similar to this expanded upon.
