I enjoyed driving around the little idyllic town. :) Trying to maximize my score was also quite fun, and trying to figure out where the stops are and what kind of route (loop!) gets me the best scores...

All bus journeys should be like this...

Wow incredible job! You definitely nailed that "just a bit more" feeling. The music, the sound effects, the robotic voice thank yous, the graphics, it all had a great and unique game feel.

The only thing that kinda annoyed me at the start was the movement, which I felt a bit off (and I don't know why?), although this went away as I played more and got used to it.

The graphics were fun and approachable. I like the friendly passengers. The music was a bit repetetive. Nice job

@tadeas-paule Thanks! This was my first time implementing vehicle controls and had some trouble it nailing down. I didn't want a bus to feel like a Tesla rocketing off, but still feeling fun to control. Maybe a bit more acceleration wouldn't have hurt....

@sanojian Is it common for passangers to greet the driver in your country? It is considered good manners here

@joonamo I'm sorry I can't really put my finger on what felt off to me. Perhaps it was missing a hand brake style thing, for drifting and better maneuverability? But it was okay, as I've said I got used to it and then it was natural and felt "this is how it should be, this is how this game's bus handles". So it wasn't a feeling of "this is not how cars move", dw :)

The most accurate traffic simulation in the history of videogames.

Thank you. Let's go. Haha, big fan of the deadpan robot voices!
Cool game! It's like a single car Mini Metro. I wish the brakes of the bus were a little bit stronger though, I was always going past the stops.

My score was 2240! No idea if that's good :)

@remzo Oh right, the brakes... I had it in the backlog to make them stronger, but I guess I forgot after learning to stop by just crashing into everything  Thanks for playing!

Fun and Chaotic! The art is very good!
The only downside is camera and the controls might feel a lite tooo awkward, but I see the potential for a really great awkward physics style game here!

The game is simple but addictive and original. Music maybe a little repetitive, but it works. Good job!

Very nice. Did spend some time getting the hang of the controls. Liked the graphics and the crazy feel of it all.
Great job

Woah, this was fun! The cars were hilariously off-road and the robotic voices of the passengers was pretty funny too! Great work!

quite a fun game, although i was not that much in control of the bus (probably just because im not good at controlling it since it seems other people are)

This looked fun and... it was! Really appealing presentation, nice chaotic gameplay (the perspective got me confused a bit, but I guess that was on purpose). I had trouble displaying it in fullscreen, also there was no audio (probably due to software on my end, as it seems to have worked for others?). Overall, I'd like to play it again with expanded and refined gameplay. Maybe some low poly art would go along with it well?

@nyubi What OS and browser were you using? I don't know if I can really do much, but out of curiosity. Many others have commented sounds, so I'm guessing they mostly work  Thanks for playing!

@diptoman Glad to hear it! MAYHEM Bus Services doesn't always have the best vehicles on the road...

I like the text-to-speech npcs, I always find it really funny XD. The game is quite fun and humorous. The controls is a little wonky but I think it actually adds to the charm and wackiness of the game. Nice game!

@joonamo yes, its probably my setup (Safari + macOS). I used Unity WebGL for my game (https://nyuuubi.itch.io/stuck-in-the-loop-dungeon) as well, fullscreen works for me there though. My game does not have sound, but those with UnityWebGL that do have audio (eg https://snowinn.itch.io/hamster-simulator) work with my settings. Maybe it depends a) on the build settings (dev build?) or b) on itch.io's settings?

@nyubi On my Safari the sound works (sounds a bit different than Firefox, though), but the full screen is pretty busted; I only get a stamp-sized game in the corner of my monitor :joy: I've seen other issues with unity+safari before, usually Chrome is the safest bet on most platforms.

Gonna check your game later today, thanks for making a web build!

A game to remind me why I shouldn't operate any motor vehicle. At least the passengers where polite to me.

A wacky score for a wacky game!

Love the style, and the sort of crazy taxi twist on a bus driver sim! The text to speech and meeples are perfect. I did have some trouble with controls, but wasn't sure if that was intentional.

Oh wow! This is very similar to an idea I had in the back of my mind for a long time. Love it. The bright colors. The soundeffects. The computer generated voice lines are great. Very well done. Favorite game of the jam I've played so far.

@cyborgx7 Favourite game in the jam? Thank you very much, I'm honoured! :flushed:

@jakegilla I had some trouble trying to balance between having fun, but buslike controls. I have to admit, I've never driven driven a bus and don't actually know how they accelerate, steer or drift in real life :trolleybus::rewind:

This was a really cheerful game! The control scheme could have been annoying, but when combined with the colors, the text-to-speech, and the bouncy music, it definitely fits into an earned aesthetic of a slightly out-of-control romp. Great job!

I absolutely did not expect the acceleration that the bus had in it. It was a lot of fun trying to slide into the stops, and quite a bit of fun accidentally slamming into the side of a car. Great work here!

08. Oct 2020 · 07:21 UTC
Oh man that lived up to the title haha
As others mentioned it was really difficult to steer the bus, and the acceleration feels like a bugatti haha. But this was really fun and the Text2Speech cracked me up. I didn't feel a lot of challenge tho, does the game get somehow difficult as the time progresses? If so I didn't notice it.
Fun title great job :)

I'm slightly concerned for my passengers. I don't really know how to drive and never stopped to pick them up, just ran through them...hopefully they're okay! ;)

I had a really fun time driving around in this stylized world! The bus physics can feel a little annoying at times as it is quite hard to control (though that does also add to the experience). Like others have said you really nailed the "Just a little more" feeling. I just wanted to keep going.

Great job!

Controls are challenging without getting too frustrating. Map is laid out in a way that's easy too understand but discourages the player from taking the same loop. Super solid entry in all aspects.

09. Oct 2020 · 19:40 UTC
Good game overall. I feel like the controls could have been a little tighter, perhaps if the acceleration was slightly dampened. But the crazy feeling of the driving could have been intended. You also seemed to rotate in the opposite direction slowly if you held a or d whilst not moving.

Ideia is good, graphics are nice!

I see some negative aspects on controls handling. The Bus is very fast and it's ok, problem is the ratio of speed/steering. Dunno if it's by design tho.

Overall nice job!

Fun driving game, the controls could use a bit more work to give them some finesse, and maybe rounds could be a little shorter to keep it tight.

It's funny that the bus has unlimited capacity :)

Of course, with the (sane) capacity constraints, we would get a different game.

Wow I really can't drive a bus. Fun game though, the graphics were nice and the music was ok since the loop was constantly interrupted by "let's" "thank you". Well done!

It took me a second to figure out what I was doing but I got the hang of it. I think the game design is very good due to it only taking a few seconds for me to figure out pink passengers need to be dropped off at the Pink Bus Top, Blue Passengers at the Blue Bus Stop, etc. You didn't need to write a long how to guide for the game which is great.

I love the sound fx in the games and the simple "Hello" and "Thank You" made me laugh.

The camera was kinda zooming in and out a little too much for my liking but that's something that you can easily fiddle with in the future.

Overall I like this take on the theme!

@glaciereclipse @mrhthepie Yeah, the game should have proggressed somehow. Now it's just a race against the clock. You can't play the game forever, but if you're real good, you should be able to sqeeze quite a long round. A shorter start time probably would have helped as well.

@clemonades Have you seen the traffic in the suburbs? I'm sure the passengers were safer with you than on the sidewalk! :busstop:

@jimanzium @lukewaffel @ltyrosine Thanks for the comments. I was really struggling with the controls/physics and decided to give my best elsewhere. For some reason I was stuck to trying to make them "more realistic than Micro Machines" and used all kinds of curves and other weird math. In the end a simpler rotation system and sane acceleration would probably have worked much better and be so much easier to program. :joy:

@fumybulb If you were to read my sources, you could find `public int busCapacity = 30;`. It's just not used anywhere :nerd:

Impressive game with navigation agents that are able to not only go to the bus but to the stops as well. The sound effects and music also kept the insensitivity up. The graphics are also well above most compo games, great job!

Cute game, it's like a bite-sized crazy taxi. I found the robot voices to be off-putting, but the rest of the SFX were fine. Controls felt a bit awkward, but more than anything I think playing through browser probably contributed most to that (especially if I full-screened); would have been nice to have a windows version to try it out in.

@gettingrekt You're giving my pawns too much credit. They just choose a target point and home in towards that with direction controlled by lerp :joy: No fancy pathfinding here! But I think even this simple behavior makes it feel like they want to travel to places!

@apples-mmmmmmmm I personally don't like downloading and running random exe's, so I chose to only ship on the browser. I understand it can be bit slower on some machines, but safety first!
